The Military Times posted an article the other day stating 1 in 3 colleges have cut funding to their veteran services programs during the past year. Such services can be the deciding factor of whether or not a student veteran succeeds.

It’s SEE4Vet’s direct mission to assist our nation’s veterans in their pursuit of academic and occupational success, and paramount at this juncture to continue our efforts. Specifically, SEE4Vets provides funds to colleges in support of student veterans including the VUB program, tutoring programs, COVID-19 Emergency Financial Relief, and scholarships.

Please consider donating to SEE4Vets so that we may continue to boost the academic success of our student veterans, and help give them the future they deserve and have dutifully earned.

Emergency Financial Relief Program at certain community colleges S.E.E.4VETS funds is doing what it was design to do…HELP student veterans. Please read some of their comments.

“I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to all the people over at the S.E.E.4VETS organization. Your generosity will assist me in paying additional costs that come with being in the Physical Therapy Assistant Program. As a single income family, it will also provide extra money for food, gas, and other family related living expenses while I am attending college. A very heartfelt "Thank You" from my whole family!”...Ryan, USAF/Army, Vet.

“I want to say a very sincere thank you for blessing my family with much needed funds to catch up on our mortgage! I cannot thank you enough! Myself, husband, and children say a very sincere thank you to you all!”...Alecia, USN, Vet.

“I want to thank S.E.E.4VETS for going out of their way to help veterans, and providing my family and I the relief funds to help get through these times it is greatly appreciated. These funds will help us to float groceries and bills through the month my wife and I both could not work due to her contracting COVID-19”…Edward, USAF, Vet.

The intrusive and disruptive COVID-19 pandemic shook America’s core, creating an economic tidal wave washing away more than 25 million jobs, and altering our way of life for years to come. In addition, institutions of higher learning shifted to entirely online instruction while campuses remain closed until fall 2020.

Working with many community colleges over the years, S.E.E.4VETS has learned that student veterans usually hold entry-level jobs and struggle financially while attending school. And they most likely have become part of the massive unemployment crisis our nation faces. To that end, S.E.E.4VETS took unprecedented measures and established a program to help student veterans in dire financial need. The Emergency Financial Relief Program would make funds available to help with food, rent, utilities and other living expenses. Our organization then began applying for COVID-19 Emergency Financial Relief funds with extraordinary success over the months of April and May.

Our gratitude and special thanks goes to these organizations for supporting our program: Wells Fargo, Arizona Community Foundation, Community Foundation for Southern Arizona and API Incorporated. Their contribution coupled with our organization repurposing certain amount of funds, S.E.E.4VETS has disbursed $41,000 to colleges. Equally important, student veterans who have received Emergency Financial Relief Funds have expressed heart-warming thanks.

S.E.E.4VETS applied for funds from the West Valley Mavericks Foundation, and received $5,000.Those dollars will go toward supporting the STEM Education program at GateWay Community College.

"West Valley Mavericks President Jason Khan congratulates S.E.E.4VETS for the fine work they do in the community. This was a very competitive year and S.E.E.4VETS should take this grant as our endorsement of their important work and it's impact on the community. We appreciate all of the hard working non-profit organizations and we are glad to assist during this especially challenging time." Khan continues.

Biggest Little Holiday Office Party, Scottsdale, AZ
The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess held its first annual Biggest Little Holiday Office Party on December 19, 2020. As always, the Fairmont team provided a unique experience – Scottsdale hottest DJ and TV personality Teresa Strasser (Master of Ceremony). Four Board members, who were available to attend, met several people, including Teresa. After chatting with her, she went on stage to address the audience. Unexpectedly and much to our surprise, Teresa acknowledged Ian Parkinson as a Purple Heart recipient, which got him a standing ovation. People approached him after lunch and thank him for his service. In all, it was a wonderful gathering worth repeating in 2020.

Glendale Community College (GCC), Glendale, AZ
GCC recently received $6,000 in scholarship funds from Support Education and Employment for Vets (SEE4VETS.) The specific use of the funds will be the Math Success Scholarship program, which will allow up to 20 military veteran GCC students to take a structured math tutor class; Math 108. This greatly benefits students because Math 108 is not eligible for the GI Bill, which means student veterans would otherwise need to cover the cost themselves.

Penske management is proud of the many veterans working in the organization. Each veteran was honored by showing them on a screen, then introducing themselves at the start of the program… truly an appreciation of their service to our great country. Rusty Findley spoke to a 250 plus audience, but first made it a point to introduce himself to veterans, and then he spoke passionately about their service to country.

GateWay Community College (GWCC), Phoenix, AZ
In collaboration with GateWay Community College, S.E.E.4VETS is proud to fund a first-ever program to encourage and reinforce Science, Technology, Engineering Math (STEM) education as path of success for veteran students. “A workforce that is trained in STEM is vital to the future global competitiveness of US corporations. Further, workers in STEM have double the job security of the non-STEM workforce and typically earn 26% more. GWCC’s new program to advance STEM education plays a vital role in supporting the needs of veterans, a strong business climate, and United States competitiveness,” says Mica R. Endsley, PhD, President, SA Technologies and S.E.E.4VETS Board of Director.
