New Episode of Asked & Answered — MMIP Awareness Month

The newest episode features a thoughtful and compassionate conversation with hosts Kierstin and Alane as they discuss MMIP Awareness Month in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
They speak about:
- What MMIP represents and why this movement is so important
- The historical and systemic factors that contribute to the crisis
- How jurisdiction, trauma, and access to resources affect families
- Early warning signs and the importance of early intervention
- The Turquoise Alert System and how it works
- Ways community members can seek support or help others do the same

This episode also shares details for MMIP Awareness Day on May 5:

- 8:30–10:30 AM – Friendship Park Amphitheater
Community members are invited to add a red handprint to the memorial wall in honor of loved ones or in support of survivors.

- 6 PM – Light Up the Night at the ALA Ballfield
An evening gathering that includes a walk at dusk, speakers, resources, and space to honor those who have been lost. Families are welcome to bring photos, posters, and banners.

This topic is deeply sensitive and impacts many in our community.

Thank you for taking the time to listen, learn, and stand in support of awareness, healing, and safety.

What an incredible Law Day 2026!

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Legal Services Office booth! We truly enjoyed meeting you, talking about the services we provide, and celebrating this year’s theme: Rooted in Tradition, Rising Together.

Everyone's participation in our Reflection Wall made the day even more meaningful. Seeing the community share thoughts on Tradition, Roots & Values, Fairness, Rules & Right Choices, and Helping, Community & Rising Together was inspiring and reminded us why this work matters.

If you visited the wall, see if you can spot your sticky note in the photo!

And a huge shout‑out to everyone who grabbed our exclusive State 48 collaboration T‑shirt! We loved seeing the excitement and support.

We appreciate each of you for making Law Day a success. We look forward to continuing to rise together as a community—grounded in tradition and committed to service.
