4. Water Quality & Sanitation Environmental Programs involving Youth

Public Memorial Service Honoring Rod Diridon Sr.

The Rotary District 5170 family is invited to join the community in celebrating the life and legacy of Rod Diridon Sr., a respected leader, advocate, and friend to many throughout our region.

Rod's dedication to public service, environmental stewardship, transportation innovation, and community leadership touched countless lives and left a lasting impact on Silicon Valley and beyond.

📍 San Jose Civic Auditorium

The memorial program will include:
* Reflections from government leaders, colleagues, and friends
* Musical performances by Symphony San Jose
* Honors presented by the United States Navy
* A celebration of Rod's remarkable life, leadership, and service

All are welcome to attend. **No RSVP is required.**

District 5170 extends its gratitude to Gloria Duffy and the Diridon family for sharing this invitation with our Rotary community. We encourage Rotarians throughout the District to attend and honor Rod's extraordinary legacy of service and leadership.

Another very fun Service Project at the SVHS. We have basically adopted the planters we worked on before and took all the weeds off! The beautiful drought tolerant planting is growing very well now. And when the new school year starts we pledge to join forces with the GreenTeam again! Did you see the picture of the 4 Mosketeers! 😀👍👏

Our club participated volunteering with the Rotary Area 9 clubs for the Food Insecurity Symposium with Secretary Leon Panetta as the main speaker. The Symposium was sponsored by the Second Harvest Food Bank. Many other non-profits working in the housing and food security fields were present and also contributed to the event. It was very well attended and it was nice seen many Rotarians friends from all other Rotary clubs. Secretary Panetta shared his immigrant family history, moral values of our society so important to protect, and fight for, and I am sure he touched and inspired many in the audience, like myself. Thank you Mr Secretary! Congratulations!😊👏👏

Here pictures of our last SVHS Service project. We had fun and by doing the work Rotary provided a way for 3 senior students to put in the Community Service hours they owed to graduate. And the grounds at the campus keep being improved in a sustainable way, and looking beautiful! Congratulations to all involved, and to the High School GreenTeam! 😊👍👏👏👏

What a great work day at the SVHS when Rotarians joined the GreenTeam! We did get a short shower but worked good couple hours till 2 planters full of deep rooted weeds looked like beautiful drought tolerant gardens! Dr Roger Knacke made a great presentation on the mysteries of the universe. We all had many questions! 😀Going back billion of years from the time of the BigBang!! Red dots were found which have a Black Hole inside, but then disappeared! Still a mystery of astronomy to be explained!!! Congratulations and thank you Dr Knacke! 😀👍👏👏
