To the Residents of Scott City:
It has been the honor of my life to serve as your mayor. After
careful consultation with 1ny family and physicians, and with
deep reflection, I am resigning from the office of Mayor of Scott
City, effective immediately, due to personal health issues that
require my full attention and care.
This decision was not made lightly. My commitment has always
been to serve you with the energy, presence, and focus the office
demands. Currently, prioritizing my health is necessary, and I
believe this course is in the best interest of both my family and
the city we all love.
I am profoundly grateful for the trust you placed in me and for
the privilege of working alongside our dedicated city staff,
council members, first responders, business owners, and
community leaders. Your support, engagement, and resilience
have driven our progress and strengthened our shared vision for
Scott City's future.
I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition. Over the
coming days, I will work closely with the City Council and
administrative leadership to maintain operational continuity,
sustain momentum on ongoing initiatives, and ensure an orderly
handoff of responsibilities. Our capable leadership team is
prepared to sustain the city's essential services and continue
advancing key projects without interruption.
Scott City is strong because of its people. I have every
confidence that the work we have started together will continue,
that our priorities will endure, and that the city will keep moving
forward with integrity, transparency, and purpose.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve, for your kindness to 1ny
family, and for your unwavering commitment to our community.
I look forward to cheering on Scott City's continued success.
With gratitude and respect,
Mayor Allen
