Tomorrow is September 1st…

☀️ Somebody forgot to tell the SUN. ☀️

It feels like we’re standing on the surface of the sun at the beach, and apparently this weather has decided it’s going to hang around ALL WEEK.

Mother Nature really needs to sit down, make up her mind, and pick a season.

In all seriousness, if you’re working outside, please stay hydrated and take breaks when you can. Make sure your pets have plenty of fresh water and, if possible, keep them somewhere cool and out of the heat.

Everybody have a great week, stay cool, stay hydrated, and most importantly, stay safe!

And somebody please tell September that it’s supposed to be FALL.

TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO FOOT PURSUIT, NARCOTICS SEIZURE, AND ARREST

On Thursday, August 27, 2026, at approximately 5:00 p.m., officers with the Scotland Neck Police Department were conducting speed enforcement in a residential area that has received multiple complaints regarding speeding.

Sergeant Bobbitt conducted a traffic stop in the area of West 12th Street near Westhaven Avenue after observing a vehicle traveling at a speed in excess of the posted speed limit.

Upon approaching the vehicle, officers identified the driver as Jamie Armstong, of Scotland Neck. During the course of the traffic stop, officers observed that a child inside the vehicle was not secured in a child restraint. Officers also detected the odor of ma*****na coming from inside the vehicle.

Based on the circumstances observed during the traffic stop, officers conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle. During the search, another adult arrived at the scene to take custody of the child.

While conducting the search, officers located a bag containing suspected illegal narcotics. At that time, Armstrong grabbed the bag and fled from officers on foot.

A foot pursuit ensued, and Officer Garcia was able to apprehend Armstrong without incident a short time later. Officers also recovered the bag containing the suspected illegal narcotics.

Armstrong was transported to the Halifax County Magistrate's Office, where he was charged with:

• Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Schedule I Controlled Substance
• Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance
• Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Ma*****na
• Possession with Intent to Sell or Deliver Fentanyl
• Felony Maintaining a Vehicle
• Resisting a Public Officer
• Driving While License Revoked
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
• Speeding
• Failure to Secure Child in Rear Seat

Armstrong was given a $100,000 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court on September 23, 2026.

The Scotland Neck Police Department remains committed to protecting the safety and security of the citizens of the Town of Scotland Neck. Our officers will continue to conduct proactive enforcement efforts, respond to community concerns, and work diligently to remove illegal narcotics from our community.

🚨 SCAM ALERT – PLEASE SHARE 🚨

We want to make everyone aware that we have received reports of phone calls from individuals attempting to scam residents.

These scammers may claim that you have won a prize, owe money to the court system, have an outstanding warrant, or need to provide information for some other reason. They may ask for your banking information, Social Security number, date of birth, or other personal information.

DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR PERSONAL OR BANKING INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE.

If you receive a suspicious call, do not provide any information or send any money. Hang up and contact law enforcement to make them aware of the call.

Scammers are becoming increasingly convincing, and they may use official-sounding language to make their calls appear legitimate.

Please help us spread the word and make sure your family members, friends, and especially elderly loved ones are aware of these scams.

Don’t become the next victim!
