More details will be made public in the coming days. Next of kin is being notified. This is a devastating tragedy for our small community but I am proud of the support already offered to the family. They have been displaced in the hardest time of the year, and lost everything.

I want to thank Sheriff Frederick of Roosevelt County for sending mutual, and for Sheriff Johnson from Sheridan County, and Sheriff Boyer of Valley County for having Deputies and firefighters on stand by.

I also want to say how proud I am of our Firefighters, Ambulance crew, Dispatch, and my Deputies for the long cold fight. We are small, but we make up for it with courage and determination.

I do not have details on if a fund has been set up for the family as of yet, but if/when I do that information will be shared.

The fatal crash happened shortly after 5 p.m. on Highway 212 near the Little Big Horn Battlefield National Monument, according to the Montana Highway Patrol.

My office sends it's condolences to the friends, family, and colleagues of Big Horn County Sheriff Darrell King. I had the pleasure of meeting him and he was a very kind man who wanted to make a difference in his community. Rest easy Sheriff, we have it from here.

I would like to introduce a new face to the Sheriff’s Office side of things. Rex Morgan has been Dispatching for our office for about 3 years. Rex is married with one little one, and has been part of our community for sometime. Deputy Morgan was sworn in on Monday the 6th. Dress in layers and stay safe! Always look both ways before crossing the street and I always recommend a flashlight or some type of reflective wear.

Here is a look at the weather across NE Montana for this Halloween evening. While it will be dry and warmer than recent nights, temperatures will generally be in the 20s with 5-10 mph winds. Stay safe out there with lingering patches of ice from recent snow and melting!

Have you returned your Jury Service Questionnaire? Per Montana Code Annotated 3-15-405 Notice to Jurors - you are required too. If not, my Office will personally reach out to you and track you down.

Notice To Jurors
3-15-405. Notice to jurors. The clerk of court shall serve notice by mail on the persons drawn as jurors and require the persons to respond by mail as to their qualifications to serve as jurors. The clerk of court may attach to the notice a jury questionnaire and a form for an affidavit claiming an excuse from service provided for in 3-15-313. If a person fails to respond to the notice, the clerk shall certify the failure to the sheriff, who shall serve the notice personally on the person and make reasonable efforts to require the person to respond to the notice.

This is the third notice to be sent out, please expect contact from either myself or Undersheriff Lowe. In order to avoid this, the following people need to immediately contact the Daniels County Clerk of Court and get the questionnaire completed. Their number is 4064872651
