Students in Mrs. Baxter's 6th and 7th-grade math classes were offered extra credit to collaborate with a family member in learning how math can be connected to their careers or hobbies. The students could interview someone or complete a slide that describes the connection between math and their topic, write and solve a relevant math problem, and discuss how this activity helped them grow in their math understanding and real-world connections. Students shared that they really got to see that math was not just for the classroom.

The Freshman Academy Team, along with current freshman students, welcomed the incoming freshmen from the 8th-grade class during a special LiveLesson session. Along with hearing from the teachers about what to get excited about for 9th grade, the students especially loved hearing from current 9th-grade students. They were able to share what life as a freshman student is like. From tips and tricks to how to survive the big transition, the 8th-grade students were all eyes and ears! We can't wait to welcome the Class of 2030 in the fall!
