Thanks to Rep. Matt Bradford for funding this well needed flashing pedestrian crossing for Main and Church Sts in Schwenksville Borough! When I was Co-Chair of Schwenksville's Activity Committee I immediately saw a very strong need for this to provide a SAFE crosswalk for residents to get to our our community events. This is also used by children (with guidance) from the library and local day care to get to Meadow Park for activities. I advocated with the Council President at that time, Chris Melville, the need for a highly visible crosswalk at Main Street Plaza. I also expressed our needs to Rep Bradford, as a Committee Co-Chair. It was one of Chris's final tasks before moving out of town. Anyone in town knows the trouble crossing Main St any given time of day and how dangerous it can be. I'm very glad to see this has finally been approved! I'm sure Matt is happy, too! Every time I saw him, (which was a lot) I would mention this. RELENTLESSY! Thanks again Rep. Bradford and your team for your constant support for our community!
Good news! $1.6 million in state funding has been awarded to infrastructure improvement projects in our community.
Two projects were awarded funding from the state’s Multimodal Transportation Fund to support local transportation infrastructure projects:
• Skippack Township, Pennsylvania: $1 million for a bridge replacement along Perkiomen Creek Road.
• Schwenksville Borough: $77,283 to install flashing pedestrian beacons at the intersection of Main Street and Church Street.
Two projects were awarded funding from the state’s Small Water and Sewer Program, which provides grants to communities for water, sewer, storm water and flood control projects:
• Schwenksville Borough Authority: $341,965 to replace a well and the Main Street water main.
• Worcester Township, PA: $217,037 for a drainage project at Quarry Hall and Griffith roads.
Our municipalities are constantly working to ensure our safety by making improvements to our roads, bridges and water infrastructure. These state investments will go a long way to support important projects, and I’m grateful to the Shapiro administration for supporting efforts to strengthen infrastructure in our community.
