Postal Issues Update:
As everyone is aware, the Post Office continues to lose first class mail, or it takes weeks to deliver letters and priority mail.
I have been working with Congresswoman Madeleine Dean's office over the past year on this issue. I was even given direct contact to the Regional Postal Customer Service Manager who after 3 months just stop responding to my emails.
I went to her Town Hall at Bomberger Hall on Ursinus Campus in Collegeville last night to bring up this subject.
Although I was not picked in the Q/A segment, an attorney from Limerick had brought up the issue and no surprise the entire audience grunted. Schwenksville is not alone on this issue. In fact it's a nationwide issue.
I spoke with Madeleine after the meeting to mention the continued financial burden on the homeowners for cancelled check fees and penalties for missing deadlines, etc. She understands the Post Office is understaffed and there are certain "hotspots", one is Montgomery County.
My prior contact from her team is currently serving in Iran, so she directed me to a new contact. I will be meeting with him within the next 2 weeks. DeJoy is no longer is the Post Master General and his replacement is no better. I will continue to bring this issue to Congress until it is resolved or rates fall to acceptable levels. My biggest question is, "Where is all this lost mail?". It's got to be a pretty big pile by now.
In the mean time, payments can always be dropped in the Borough mailbox located left of the front doors (300 Main St) or you can pay on-line at my website with eChecks or credit cards. eChecks are only $1.50 and it guarantees I receive your payment and you also get an emailed receipt. I also have office hours leading up to each deadline if you prefer to pay in person (no cash). I offer 1 Saturday, 1 weekday and 1 weeknight to fit your schedule. Please refer to my website or your tax bill for those hours.
Side note: If you ever get a chance to visit Bomberger Hall, please do! It's a very old church with a incredible woodwork and an old pipe organ!

Swung by MCCC today to hear the State of the County. Quite a handful with all the improvements being made to the county and its many bridges. Montgo Co gets $9 back on every dollar they invest in the Community College! That's very impressive. Also working with small businesses and securing the elections. I spoke with all 3 commissioners and let them know Schwenksville Borough was in the house.

Thanks to Rep. Matt Bradford for funding this well needed flashing pedestrian crossing for Main and Church Sts in Schwenksville Borough! When I was Co-Chair of Schwenksville's Activity Committee I immediately saw a very strong need for this to provide a SAFE crosswalk for residents to get to our our community events. This is also used by children (with guidance) from the library and local day care to get to Meadow Park for activities. I advocated with the Council President at that time, Chris Melville, the need for a highly visible crosswalk at Main Street Plaza. I also expressed our needs to Rep Bradford, as a Committee Co-Chair. It was one of Chris's final tasks before moving out of town. Anyone in town knows the trouble crossing Main St any given time of day and how dangerous it can be. I'm very glad to see this has finally been approved! I'm sure Matt is happy, too! Every time I saw him, (which was a lot) I would mention this. RELENTLESSY! Thanks again Rep. Bradford and your team for your constant support for our community!

Good news! $1.6 million in state funding has been awarded to infrastructure improvement projects in our community.

Two projects were awarded funding from the state’s Multimodal Transportation Fund to support local transportation infrastructure projects:
• Skippack Township, Pennsylvania: $1 million for a bridge replacement along Perkiomen Creek Road.
• Schwenksville Borough: $77,283 to install flashing pedestrian beacons at the intersection of Main Street and Church Street.

Two projects were awarded funding from the state’s Small Water and Sewer Program, which provides grants to communities for water, sewer, storm water and flood control projects:
• Schwenksville Borough Authority: $341,965 to replace a well and the Main Street water main.
• Worcester Township, PA: $217,037 for a drainage project at Quarry Hall and Griffith roads.

Our municipalities are constantly working to ensure our safety by making improvements to our roads, bridges and water infrastructure. These state investments will go a long way to support important projects, and I’m grateful to the Shapiro administration for supporting efforts to strengthen infrastructure in our community.
