We have had reports of discolored water in our water system. Utility Crews are flushing the distribution system with fire hydrants to clear the issue. If you are experiencing dirty water, run any faucets interior and exterior of the house to flush your private line. Some may have to run for an extended amount of time to clear the system.

We want to stress this is an aesthetic issue and not a contamination issue. The water is safe to drink. If you continue to have discolored water after running your faucets, feel free to give our office a call.

The Utilites Department strives to supply clean and safe drinking water for our community. We appreciate your patience.

**Water System Chlorination Update**
We want to thank everyone for their patience over the last 30 days as we run the chlorination process in our water system. We have decided to extend the chlorination period for an additional 2-3 weeks only to ensure the quality of our water.

We will continue to monitor the results daily, and we’ll keep the public updated as we move forward.

Thank you, again, for your understanding and support as we work to maintain safe, dependable drinking water for our community!

***KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR WATER LINES***

With the freezing temperatures coming, please remember to keep an eye on your water lines and water meter. When water freezes in the lines/meter, the expansion of water freezing causes lines to split and water meters to break.

Here are a few tips you can do to help prevent freezing pipes:
- Let faucets drip. A slow drip helps water keep moving making it harder to freeze.
- Open cabinet doors under sinks so warm air can reach the pipes.
(Both of these are very beneficial on sinks on an exterior wall
- Know the location of you main shutoff valve in the case of an emergency.

It is also good practice to keep the area of your water meter as warm as possible. If you are using a space heater, please be careful and follow the directions of how far to keep it away from flammable materials.
If you have problems, remember that you can always call our office!
Our day time phone number is 402-352-5444. Our after hours number is 402-352-8863.
Keep warm and stay safe!

Good afternoon!

As winter sets in, we're asking residents to please clear any ice and snow from around any fire hydrants on or near your property. Keeping a 3-foot radius and a path from the hydrant to the street clear helps first responders access the hydrants quickly in an emergency - and every second counts!

Thank you!

Outages Happen – Let us know right away!

Whether it be a squirrel or raccoon climbing up a pole, a tree branch falling on an overhead line, or a snow/ice storm, there’s many things that may cause a power outage at all hours of the day or night.

If you ever experience a power outage, please remember to call our office to report it. This ensures that we can get our crew on the job as quickly as possible to restore service.

While we do monitor our system closely, a quick call from you helps us pinpoint issues faster and keep everyone informed. Your call makes a difference!

REMEMBER: If a power line has come down and is on the ground, that doesn’t mean the power is off. It can still be extremely dangerous. If you ever do see a power line down on the ground, please avoid touching or driving over the line.
