𝑵𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝑵𝒀𝑺 𝑫𝒆𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉:

As you may know, federal funding cuts have impacted New York’s Essential Plan program. Governor Hochul has taken steps to protect Essential Plan coverage for most enrollees, but there are changes that will impact some enrollees starting July 1, 2026. In addition, there are also changes to Medicaid that will take effect on January 1, 2027.

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱?
• Enrollees with incomes between 200% and 250% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), ($31,920 - $39,900 annual income) will no longer be eligible for the Essential Plan starting July 1, 2026
• This impacts 450,000 individuals
• There are no changes for the 1.3 million enrollees with income below 200% FPL (income below $31,920)

𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘂𝗮𝗹𝘀
• All pregnant enrollees will stay continuously enrolled in coverage
• Pregnant enrollees whose due date is before January 1, 2027 will remain enrolled in the Essential Plan
• Pregnant enrollees whose due date is after January 1, 2027 will be transitioned to Medicaid on July 1, 2026

In observance of Memorial Day, the Schoharie County Office Building will be 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 on Monday, May 25, 2026.

Schoharie County Department of Social Services will reopen on Tuesday, My 26, 2026 at 8:30am.

If you need to reach DSS emergently during this time, please call on-call at 518-295-8114. This number should only be used for emergent, immediate need of food, shelter, clothing, or heating fuel; Child or Adult Services crises; or runaway emergencies (child under the age of 18) unwilling/unable to return to their guardian/home.

To report child abuse or maltreatment, please call the Statewide Central Register at 1-800-342-3720. If you believe a child is in immediate danger, call 911 or your local police department.
