Last night, I had the honor of attending the Guadalupe County Narcotics Task Force Christmas Party, a gathering that brought back many memories. From my early days as the first narcotics investigator for Guadalupe County to my decade plus with DEA, each moment has been a journey.

Being in the company of those who continue to serve in this challenging field reminded me of the sacrifices and dedication that go into making our community a safer place. The investigators and their families are the backbone of our safety, always on call, and making personal sacrifices that many can't even fathom.

I have seen the toll this work takes on families and personal lives. Yet, every day, these brave men and women get up and continue to fight for the safety and well-being of Guadalupe County. Their efforts often go unnoticed but never unappreciated.

To all my fellow officers, past and present, and their families: your commitment does not go unnoticed. You are the reason Guadalupe County is such a great place to live. Your bravery and dedication are recognized and appreciated.

Thank you for all that you do, for the sacrifices you make, and for your unwavering dedication to our community. Your service is the foundation of our county's safety and prosperity.
