It was an Honor to be recognized by the New York State Sheriffs' Association for achieving accredited status for their Civil Division.
Join us in congratulating Sheriff Dominic Dagostino, Undersheriff Jim Barrett and the entire team for their commitment to excellence.
Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office is one of just 35 Sheriff's departments statewide to achieve accreditation for all three divisions: Corrections, Road Patrol, and Civil.
County Legislator Constantine presents Sheriff Dagostino with a proclamation to recognize this important milestone.

Schenectady County Sheriff’s Office, launches our Drug Take Back event in conjunction with the DEA.

This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet. In addition, Americans are now advised that their usual methods for disposing of unused medicines—flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash—both pose potential safety and health hazards.

Today is Human Trafficking Awareness Day. Thousands of women and children are abused and exploited in N.Y each year.
Sheriff Dominic Dagostino, Under Sheriff Jim Barrett and the Schenectady County Sheriff's Office are committed to fighting human trafficking.
Let's spread awareness and human trafficking.
