Yesterday our bumbling former chair Tom Kennedy promoted ineffective efforts by Democrats Paul Tonko, Kirsten Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer regarding the closure of the Schenectady veterans clinic in Rotterdam.
Then he stood with Democrat Angelo Santabarbara and fake Conservative John Polimeni at a press conference of those officials who have similarly held Press Conferences to slam the Trump Administration but who have done nothing effective to keep the clinic open.
Republicans control all of the levers of government in Washington DC. As a result conversations could have been set up with liaisons from the VA in DC, and with staff from the veterans affairs committees in the House and Senate. There are members of congress from other parts of the state like Homeland Security Chair Andrew Garbarino, Mike Lawler, Claudia Tenney, Nick Langworthy and others. ZERO effort was made by any of these officials to involve the Republican party in these matters. Why? All they care about is BASHING Republicans. They dont care about the veterans or the center, they care about the press coverage and the GOP bashing only.
Mr. Kennedy is dumb enough to allow himself and his Republican party membership to be used as a clown in the Democrat circus. Literally a useful idiot.
Unlike Kennedy we will not be lead around by the nose. The Veteran's clinic should stay open, but those whining about it did nothing productive beyond press conferences and letters to make it happen. They never included or involved GOP officials whether within the party structure of elected members.
Saving the Veteran's clinic required cooperation and conversation with those that run the Federal government in the GOP. No one bothered to do that they just ran to the mic.

On Friday, the Schenectady County VA Outpatient Clinic in Rotterdam is closing its doors.
