* Until 345 AM EDT.

* At 1142 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain
has fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour.
Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the
warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other
drainage and low lying areas.

* Some locations that may experience flash flooding include...
New Brunswick, Perth Amboy, Somerset, Edison, Middletown, Old
Bridge, East Brunswick, South Brunswick, Sayreville, North
Brunswick, Marlboro and Manalapan.

This includes the following highways...
New Jersey Turnpike between exits 8A and 12.
Interstate 287 in New Jersey between mile markers 0 and 4.
Interstate 195 in New Jersey between mile markers 7 and 21.
Garden State Parkway between mile markers 109 and 133.
Turn around...don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most
flood deaths occur in vehicles.

* Until 1145 PM EDT.

* At 1057 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Levittown,
or near Trenton, moving northeast at 45 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.

IMPACT...Damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is
possible.

* Locations impacted include...
Trenton, New Brunswick, Perth Amboy, Edison, Old Bridge, East
Brunswick, South Brunswick, Sayreville, North Brunswick, Marlboro,
Manalapan, Ewing, Holmdel, Princeton, Florence, Burlington,
Bristol, Matawan, Jamesburg, and Hightstown.

For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.

In addition to large hail and damaging winds, frequent cloud to
ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors
immediately. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough
to be struck by lightning.

Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

2PM Update: Scott Ave has been rully reopened.

The Sayreville Office of Emergency Management is asking residents and motorists to avoid the area of Scott Avenue as emergency crews continue to operate at a 3rd Alarm Structure Fire.

At this time, no injuries have been reported. Multiple mutual aid agencies remain on scene assisting with fire suppression and support operations.

🚧 Road Closure: Scott Avenue remains closed from Ridgeway Avenue to Lower Main Street, South Amboy. Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes and avoid the area to allow emergency personnel to work safely and efficiently.

Please use caution, follow directions from emergency responders, and avoid unnecessary travel in the affected area.

We thank all responding agencies for their continued efforts and cooperation.
