Earlier this afternoon, the Melrose Hose Company No. 1 and the President Park Fire Co. #1 were dispatched for a smoke condition in wooded area behind Quick Check on Main St.

While enroute, units were advised of a brush fire. Engine 4 and Brush 5 arrived simultaneously and began trying to access the fire. Command requested additional brush units from Sayreville Engine Company #1 and Morgan Hose & Chemical Co.

The fire reached two alarms due to the heat. The Sayreville Volunteer Fire Department along with NJFFS Section B10 units and an engine from South Amboy Independence Fire Company - Engine 7 operated on scene for a few hours.

On Memorial Day, the Sayreville Volunteer Fire Department will hold services at the department monument which is on the corner of Main Street & MacArthur Ave at 7:30am. This service pays respect to those members who have faithfully departed us.

On this Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom and our way of life. Their courage and service remind us of the true cost of the liberties we hold dear.

Please join us for Sayreville’s annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 25, 2026, stepping off at 10:00 AM. The parade will be followed by a Memorial Day Ceremony at around 11:00 AM at the Borough Hall.

After the ceremony, we encourage everyone to continue the day of remembrance by joining our partners at VFW Post 4699 and American Legion Post 211 for their post-parade events and gatherings.

Let’s come together as a community to pay tribute to our heroes.
