During last evening's meeting of the Sayre Area Board of Directors Officer Spencer announced the winner of this year's SRO patch. The winner, Maci Wells was presented with the first patch featuring her winning design. Officer Spencer started this tradition two years ago challenging the students to design a SRO patch for him to wear on his uniform. Maci's design will be worn during the 2026-2027 school year. Congratulations Maci! 💙❤️

The Sayre Borough Police Department and SRO Spencer would like to extend a massive thank you to Colby Holbert for his incredibly generous donation to our School Resource Officer (SRO) Program.

In a recent letter to the department, Colby shared his appreciation for the "service, dedication, and compassion" shown by our SRO, Officer Dalton Spencer. He noted that Officer Spencer’s work goes far beyond the duties of a job, helping students feel safe, supported, and seen.
This donation will go directly toward initiatives that build character and community, including:

Student Supplies & Resources: Providing essential items and supplies to assist kids within the Sayre Area School District.

Relationship Building: Funding tools and activities that foster positive interactions and mentorship between officers and students.

RISE Giveaways: Providing rewards for students who consistently demonstrate Respect, Integrity, Self-control, and Empathy.

As Colby noted in his letter, we hope this support assists in the continued mission of service and mentorship. It is through the support of community leaders like Colby Holbert that we can make a lasting difference in the lives of our students.

Please join us in thanking Colby Holbert for his commitment to the kids of Sayre!

🚨 SCAM ALERT — Sayre, PA Residents 🚨

❗️Several residents in the Sayre, PA area are receiving unsolicited phone calls from people claiming to be from the Sayre Police Department. These callers may:

Saying they are police officers, sheriffs, or detectives

Show a local law-enforcement number on caller ID (this can be spoofed)

Claim you have an outstanding warrant, missed court/jury duty, or owe fines

Try to pressure you into providing personal info or payment (gift cards, wire transfers, cryptocurrency, etc.)

📌 Important — Real law enforcement will NEVER:

Call to demand payment over the phone

Ask for gift card numbers, bank info, or crypto transfers

Threaten immediate arrest if you hang up
These are classic impersonation scams seen across many U.S. departments.

📞 What to do if you get one of these calls:
✔️ Hang up immediately
✔ Do not give out personal or financial info
✔ Call the Sayre Borough Police non-emergency number to verify: (570) 888-2233 (do not trust a number the caller gives you)
✔ Report the call to your phone carrier and the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov

📍 Spread the word! Share this alert with family, friends, and neighbors — especially older adults who are often targeted.

ARMED SUSPECT PURSUIT AND ARREST

Arrest: Chase Paul Argot 42 YOA
224 Haines Rd
Wysox, PA 18854

Date/Time: November 6, 2025, approximately 2:23 PM
Agencies Involved: Sayre Police Department, Tioga County (NY) Sheriff’s Department, New York State Police, Waverly Police, Athens Township Police, Greater Valley EMS

Incident Overview:
Sayre Police were notified by Bradford County 911 that the Tioga County Sheriff’s Department was pursuing a black Ford Escape unknown registration with male driver traveling south on West River Road . The male driver had just reportedly brandished a handgun during a dispute at a business in Tioga County, NY, and was believed to be armed with at least two handguns.

Pursuit Details:
Sayre Police located the vehicle in Sayre and attempted a traffic stop on North Thomas Avenue. The driver, later identified as Argot, failed to stop and fled police, committing numerous traffic violations including speeding, ignoring stop signs, and driving in the wrong lane of travel. The pursuit continued across North Thomas Avenue, Cayuta Street, and Shepard Road, where Argot repeatedly entered the oncoming lane of travel before crossing back into New York State.
In the area of intersection of Shepard Road and Route 17C, Argot attempted to strike a Sayre Police vehicle, furthermore while on Route 17 C, Argot swerved across lanes on Route 17 several times to block police attempts to pass, causing him to strike several roadside markers along the way. Just before the area of Waverly Barton Fire Station, Argot’s vehicle began smoking, and he stopped in the driveway of the fire station.

Confrontation and Arrest:
Once in the driveway Argot exited the vehicle holding a .44 caliber Interarms Virginian Dragoon revolver, loaded with six rounds. Officers issued repeated commands to drop the weapon, which Argot ignored. After briefly re-entering his vehicle and emerging again—claiming to be unarmed but still refusing orders—New York State Police deployed a Taser, allowing officers to take him into custody. A second firearm, a .45 caliber Springfield semi-automatic handgun, was also found on the front passenger seat of vehicle.
