With the higher temps and humidity arriving, our supply of bottled water has diminished pretty significantly. Bottled water and sports drinks play a vital role for our Firefighters on emergency scenes and training events.

We would greatly appreciate donations of cases of water or sports drinks for us to use to hydrate our Firefighters when they are working!

If you are able to dontate a case we would greatly appreciate it. Donations can be dropped off at our Fire Station. 290 Horne Ave Saxonburg. Or at our Ambulance Station located at 210 Horne Ave. If no one is there you can drop it by one of the man door and shoot us a message and we will grab it.

Thank you for your support!

Over the past several months members of Saxonburg VFC along with several other departments completed the new Essentials of Firefighting Program.

Thank you to the following members who completed the Fire Ground Support Module. Hunter King, Kyle Leith-Morgan, Eliana Miller, Josh Rennick and Thomas Weston. Fire Ground Support is a 48 hour module that also requires the students to complete Hazmat Awareness, Traffic Incident Management and Nims 100 and 700.

Yesterday concluded the end of the second module which was Interior Firefighter. This course is 88 hours in duration and requires the students to also complete the 32 Hazmat Operations Class. Congrats to Firefighter Hunter King who completed the Interior Firefighter Program.

Thank you to all of the instructors and staff that made these programs run over the past 5 months.

Big Training event

May 16 and 17 5 members took the time out of their weekend to go to Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Companypany participate in their annual 24 hour ERS and staffed an engine crew.

Saxonburg VFC had a crew participate in the 24 Hour ERS (24 hours of emergency response scenarios) at Cranberry Twp VFC’s fire training facility. Our engine crew was 1 of 13 fire apparatus (7 engines, 3 ladders and 3 rescues) from around the region (longest distance travelled goes to Montoursville VFD with an over 3 hour drive) encompassing 65 students who responded to 98 scenarios dispatched over 24 hours. Scenarios were run at real life emergency response pace with the only instructor intervention during incidents being if a safety concern was seen. After incident reviews with the instructors and crews was the educational review process so crews and companies either succeeded or failed as a team.

This was an amazing experience that really pushed teamwork at real life pace challenging our crews ability under stress, pressure and exhaustion. A thank you to firefighters Matt Imhoff, Bella Kemmer, Andy Schriner, Bill Weston and Andy Freehling (subbed Sunday morning for Bella) And a huge thank you to Township Volunteer Fire Company for hosting the event

Thanks for the invite guys. It's always great to work with your mutual aid partners.

In addition to this training we had an Engine crew at Cranberry Twp this weekend for the 24 hour ERS training. The ERS training consisted of responses to "emergencies". Your crew could have been sent to a technical rescue, dumpster fire, vehicle crash, hazmat incident, building fire or anything in between.

And because we really couldn't get enough several members completed the final day of Hazmat Operations class on Saturday.

Does this sound like something you may be interested in doing? Reach out and ask us how. All training and equipment provided!

Thank you to the members that gave up their weekend to train or work the event held on the grounds.

We would like to wish all of our EMT's, Advanced EMT's, Paramedics and PHRN's a happy EMS week.
