Where is Matilda buried? A mystery solved!

Matilda Moxley Sorrel
George Wayne Anderson Mausoleum, Plot 504
Laurel Grove Cemetery North
Savannah, G.A.

Although there is a memorial plaque for Matilda on the Sorrel family mausoleum, it has been confirmed that she is buried in the George Wayne Anderson family vault. Mr. Anderson and Mr. Sorrel were successful business partners and presumably close friends. We speculate that with Matilda’s untimely death and the Sorrel family mausoleum not completed, she was alternatively buried in their vault. Conveniently, Matilda also had a son named George Wayne Anderson Sorrel.

We would like to thank Mr. Paschal of Shannon Scott Tours & Events and his close work with the people of Laurel Grove Cemetery for helping us finally lay this question to rest.
