UPDATE 9/7/26 6:27 pm Mariah Jackson has been located and is safe.

MISSING RUNAWAY

The Chatham County Police Department is searching for 15-year-old Mariah Jackson, who was last seen getting off a school bus in the Wax Myrtle Court area yesterday around 3:00 p.m. She was wearing khaki pants and a white shirt. Anyone with information concerning her whereabouts should contact police.

The Chatham County Police Department is the lead investigative agency in this case, and information from other sources may not be accurate at this time.

Walking out of your home to start your day and discovering that your car has been stolen is absolutely horrible. But, getting a call from our officers a short time later to let you know that we've found your vehicle, makes things a little better.

đź‘®A burglary in progress was interrupted by several of our D-Watch officers yesterday, and three people landed behind bars as a result.

🚨Our patrol officers were dispatched to a report of a burglary at a residence on the east side of the county. Officers quickly took two suspects into custody at the scene. Forty-five-year-old Joshua North and 30-year-old Madaline Jones are now each facing two counts of felony 1st degree burglary. They were taken to the Chatham County Detention Center.

🚔The third person was arrested after agreeing to do a favor for Joshua North. He came to pick up North's vehicle that was at the scene of the arrest. But our officers quickly realized he was wanted on warrants out of another county. So, we picked him up and placed him in custody, as well.

🚨A sandbar in the Ogeechee River was the scene of a stabbing and shooting last night, and we have a suspect in custody.🚨

The Suspect

⚖️ Forty-seven-year-old Kevin Ramage is in Chatham County Police Department custody and will be served with an aggravated assault warrant and transferred to the Chatham County Detention Center.

The Incident

🔎 Witnesses and the victim tell Chatham County Police Department Criminal Investigations Division detectives that the incident happened around 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2026, on a sandbar in the Ogeechee River near Shad Road. The victim reported that shortly after arriving on the sand bar by jet ski, Ramage began a verbal confrontation. As the victim attempted to leave, he stated Ramage stabbed him. The victim says he then fired his gun and struck Ramage.

The victim left the scene on his jet ski and met law enforcement and EMS at Morgan’s Bridge, and Ramage was dropped off at a nearby fire station for medical assistance. He was then transported by ambulance to a hospital for treatment of what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Minutes after they walked off of the graduation stage, our newest Chatham County Police Department officers raised their hand to take the oath, and we could not be prouder of them!

Please join us in congratulating Hayden Daniel, Kenneth Rowe, and Justin Gresenz who graduated today from the Georgia Public Safety Training Academy. Officer Gresenz also earned High Academic Honors for the entire class made up of candidates from around Georgia.

Now our three newest officers begin our intensive Field Officer Training program to learn even more about how to serve and protect.

In our jurisdiction of unincorporated Chatham County, that is The Landings, Isle of Hope, Burnside Island, and Bradley Point Road.
