What is IPAWS? 🧐

During an emergency, getting accurate information quickly can save lives. IPAWS (Integrated Public Alert and Warning System) is FEMA’s national system that allows local public safety agencies to send life-saving messages directly to you.

Is your phone set up to receive these alerts? Take a moment to check your settings:
1️⃣ Open Settings on your phone.
2️⃣ Tap Notifications (or Wireless Alerts on some models).

HEAT - HEAT - HEAT!

We're ready for Mother Nature to turn it down a bit too.
Here are several tips to help keep your electric bill down, your house cool, and reduce wear on your A/C unit.

👉 Optimize Your AC: Set your thermostat to 78°F when you are home. Clean or replace filters monthly so your system doesn’t overwork.
👉 Block Out Heat: Close blinds and curtains during the day—especially on windows that get direct sunlight.
👉 Use Fans Wisely: Ceiling fans cool people, not rooms. Turn them off when you leave the room to save energy.
👉 Reduce Heat Gain: Avoid using the stove or oven during peak heat hours. Switch to a microwave, outdoor grill, or prep cool meals instead.
👉 Run Smart Appliances: Wash clothes and dishes only with full loads, and try to schedule them for early morning or late evening.

Flooding can happen in a Flash!

Flash floods happen within minutes of heavy rainfall. Be aware of low-lying areas and pooling/ponding along roadways. You should never drive through a flooded area, as you can't see what's beneath you. It is common for sinkholes to appear, as well as for strong currents to carry you and your vehicle away.
