Hardman Farm, located in the mountains of northeast Georgia, is the newe
st state historic site. The last owner of the farm was the family of Dr. Lamartine Griffin Hardman, the 65th governor of Georgia from 1927-1931. The Hardman family lovingly preserved the estate and donated it to the state of Georgia in 1999. Included in the donation were the gazebo-topped Native American burial mound, the house constructed in 1870 by Captain James Hall Nichols, and many outbuildings. The site is open 7 days a week from 10am-4pm March 1 through January 1 and Thurs/Fri/Sat January 2nd-Feb 28th. Self guided grounds admission is available each day from 10am-4pm. Guests can peruse the grounds, barns and outbuildings at their own pace. (Mansion is not included in the grounds admission--visitors must be accompanied by site staff inside the house.) Guided mansion tours are available Thurs-Sat. The approximately 55 minute tours begin at the top of each hour in the Hardman Farm visitors center. Last tour begins at 3pm.
