On Thursday, September 17 at the Marin Center Showcase Theatre, the League of Women Voters of Marin County, Marin County Free Library, Sausalito School District, and Rize/Marin are presenting a screening The Mood of America, a 1968 documentary on the impact of desegregation efforts in the Sausalito/Marin City School District. The Sausalito Public Library and BAIT present a night of reading at 6 p.m. on Friday, September 18. The event will feature readings by Kerry Donoghue, Eirinie Carson, Aracelis Girmay, and Laleh Khadivi. Tanya Zilinskas will host the evening and moderate Q&A with the featured writers after their readings. Sausalito Books by the Bay will be selling titles by our authors, and book signings will follow the reading and Q&A. Attendance is free.

Library patrons can now sign up to receive text message notifications for hold pickups. Shoutbomb is a free service (standard text-message rates apply) allows the library to send text-message notifications to patrons. Patrons can also send text messages using preselected keywords to request additional information. Patrons can receive notifications for multiple library cards when items are ready for pickup or overdue. Shoutbomb can also be used to cancel holds or search for available items.

Behold our old-school Listening Station! A proper hi-fi just like grandpa’s—receiver, CD player, cassette deck, and turntable. No speakers because this is a library, but we supply the headphones. Peruse our diverse collection of vintage CDs, LPs, and cassettes. Check them out or listen to them here! City Librarian Jeffrey Jackson is happy to shoot the breeze with audiophiles and neophytes alike. Come check it out!

Please bear with us as the book return saga continues. The sign in the foreground, as you can see, now points to the mailbox instead of the book return (the dark green bin in the background). We're working on getting the sign removed. P.S. Please do not return books in the mailbox! P.P.S. And, the sign is already gone, thanks to the quick response of Public Works!

We’re excited to announce our brand-new Little Free Library, conveniently located right next to the playground!

Thanks to the generosity of Friends of Sausalito Library and the Department of Public Works team who installed it, kids, parents, grandparents, and book lovers of all ages can now enjoy a little literary treasure hunt while they’re at the park.
