Chippewa/Luce/Mackinac Conservation District

Chippewa/Luce/Mackinac Conservation District Michigan's Conservation Districts work to preserve natural resources through education, research, and direct remediation of key areas.

The Chippewa East/Mackinac Conservation District was established on May 23, 1949. In 2012, the Chippewa East/Mackinac Conservation merged with the Luce West/Mackinac Conservation District to become the Chippewa Luce Mackinac Conservation District.

🏁7000/7000 Rain Garden Plants in the ground!

This afternoon, the final rain garden plant was installed at Brimley Area Schools. A mix of amazing plants, native to Michigan's Upper Peninsula from Northern Natives Plant Nursery, will capture and treat stormwater runoff before it enters the Waishkey River and increase opportunities for local pollinators.

Our Deer Habitat Improvement plantings were a success!

In the course of three days, Logan and his crew planted 475 trees and shrubs including red oak, white oak, white cedar, white pine, American hazelnut, serviceberry, and red-osier dogwood. In addition to the trees and shrubs, the team seeded 4 acres of native grasses and wildflowers. The plantings were done on four different properties across the EUP, in Pickford, Goetzville, and Hessel townships.
