The words we use have power. They shape how we see people and how people see themselves.
Person first language puts the person before the diagnosis.
Instead of saying "disabled person," we say "person with a disability." Instead of "wheelchair bound," we say "person who uses a wheelchair." It is a simple shift that makes a meaningful difference.
