Today, our lunch speaker was Daniel DeFranco, who shared exciting updates on the Riverside Park Conservation Project.

As Saugatuck Township Supervisor, Daniel spoke about the vision for permanently conserving 119 acres of valuable forest, wetlands, and Kalamazoo River shoreline. This important project will help protect critical natural habitats while creating opportunities for future generations to enjoy and appreciate this remarkable property.

We are proud to announce that a portion of the proceeds from the 2026 Venetian Festival will be donated to support this meaningful conservation effort.

Stay tuned for more information on how you can get involved, contribute to the project, and help ensure the preservation of this beautiful natural space for years to come. Together, we can make a lasting impact on the future of Riverside Park and the Kalamazoo River corridor.

Krazy for the Kazoo is THIS WEEKEND! Join us in celebrating the Kalamazoo River Greenway and the ongoing restoration work, recreational opportunities, and beauty that the watershed
provides to our region.

Celebrate the Kalamazoo River Greenway on May 29 & 30! Join us for Krazy for the Kazoo, a time for stewardship, community, and connection centered around our watershed!

The weekend will kick off on Friday, May 29, with an interactive reading of a brand-new picture book about the Kalamazoo River! There will be hands-on activities and goodies for the kids to take home. Best suited to 1st-5th graders, no registration required!

On Saturday, May 30, we will have kayaking, water safety activities, an invasive species pull, a river cleanup, food, and much more! This will be a great event for the whole family. Registration is required for volunteers and kayakers.

There is so much happening in the Kalamazoo River Greenway! Did you know the Kalamazoo River Watershed Council has a brand new, interactive children’s book all about the Kalamazoo
River? Enjoy learning about and connecting to your watershed with a reading of the book, activities, and goodies on May 29th at the Saugatuck-Douglas District Library at 3:30 PM.

After getting inspired by the book, join us for Krazy for the Kazoo on Saturday, May 30th! We’ll have a number of events for the whole family at Wade’s Bayou and Saugatuck Wilds, with kayaking, water safety activities, a river cleanup, food, and more!
