🪢⚠️ Many people drown every year trying to retrieve their boat. Using the right knot is critical to making sure your vessel is secure so it doesn’t drift away.

🏊 Dealing with wave action and currents caused by boats or wind can make swimming exhausting in open water (lakes, rivers, ponds, etc.), regardless of how well you can swim.

🦺 A belt-style inflatable life jacket won’t restrict your swimming ability — and it will be there if you need it.

🏡 Make sure you return home to those you love by wearing a properly fitted life jacket 🦺 whenever you’re in, on, or near open water 🌊 (lakes, rivers, ponds, etc.).

⚠️ You never know when you might need it—and it’s almost impossible to put one on after you’re in the water.

Please Wear It

Many people drown each year while trying to retrieve drifting items—like a boat that’s come loose. ⚠️🚤 Knowing how to tie the proper knot can help prevent dangerous situations.

Most importantly, always wear a life jacket when retrieving anything on the water. 🦺🌊

Great news!🎉

We’re excited to share that Littcarr Campground at Carr Creek Lake is scheduled to reopen April 27 following an extended closure due to historic flooding. 🏕️

This will be a soft opening, and while we’re happy to welcome visitors back, please note that campground reservations are not available at this time. Some areas are still being restored, and visitors may notice limited grass coverage, as well as dusty or muddy conditions as work continues. 🚧

What’s open:
• Two of the four shelters at Littcarr (which are available for reservation)
• Marina parking lot
• Damsite and tailwater areas, including two restrooms and two shelters (these areas have remained open)

Coming soon:
• Littcarr Campground will open April 27 on a first-come, first-served basis (we anticipate opening reservations on Recreation.gov in the coming weeks)
• The remaining two Littcarr shelters are tentatively planned to reopen before Memorial Day weekend

Please note:
• Marina shelters are not yet available for reservation due to restroom availability but may be used on a walk-in basis

The historic flooding caused significant damage to campsites and facilities, requiring many areas—including bathrooms and shower houses—to be torn down and reconstructed. This has been a major effort involving extensive planning, funding, and the right weather conditions to complete the work.

Our teams are making steady progress, and conditions will continue to improve in the coming weeks. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to providing a great recreation experience for all who enjoy Carr Creek Lake. 💙

🚧 Flooded roads can be more dangerous than they look. Just a few inches of water can sweep a vehicle away.

If you see standing water on the road, don’t risk it. Find an alternate route.

Turn around. Don’t drown. 🌧️🚗
