If your home smoke alarm went off right now, would everyone in your house know what to do?

In a real home fire, you may have less than two minutes to safely get outside. Having a plan saves precious time and keeps your family calm.

Take five minutes today to build your home escape plan:

* Find two ways out: Check every room for two ways out and make sure doors and windows open easily.

* Pick a safe meeting spot: Choose a spot out front a safe distance away, like a neighbor’s tree, a mailbox, or a light pole.

* Practice together: Run a quick drill at least twice a year so children and adults know exactly where to go.

National Preparedness Month is the perfect time to get this done. Draw a map of your home tonight and practice with your household!

Mark your calendar and start saving your seeds!

Bring your harvested seeds and leftover seed packets to swap with other gardeners during our Community Seed Swap! UC Master Gardeners will be available during the program to answer questions about seeds.

A Seed Swap is where gardeners come together to trade seeds from their best plants, bringing their own seeds to share and taking home the seeds that others have to offer. It is a great opportunity for people to share their favorite varieties of seeds, as well as try out new ones, share ideas, tips and tricks that go along with gardening in the local area. Bring your harvested seeds and leftover seed packets to swap with other gardeners.

Join us in the community room on Tuesday, September 22nd at 6pm. All are welcome! https://sccl.bibliocommons.com/events/6a78ed3cf213992f00cad521
