🚗 Belmont Stakes = Youth Parkers Are Back!
Heading to the track this weekend? Park on Wright & Jackson Streets and support our Youth Parking Program! Look for the bright yellow shirts and waving orange flags. Every dollar raised helps fund recreation opportunities for residents of all ages. 💛

🎣 FREE Learn to Fish Clinic
Join us Sunday, June 14 from 10-12 at Lake Lonely for a fun, hands-on fishing experience! Perfect for first-time anglers or anyone looking to brush up on their skills. No fishing pole? No problem—we’ve got you covered! Register today through your ActiveNet account.

⛸️ 50 Years on Ice!
The Saratoga Springs Figure Skating Club is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a Spring Skating Spectacular on June 14 from 1–3 PM at the Weibel Ice Rink! Tickets are just $5 at the door. Stop by after the fishing clinic and enjoy an incredible performance from skaters past and present.

🎾 Court Improvement Alert
The East Side Rec pickleball, tennis, basketball, and wall ball courts will be closed June 15–26 while we complete resurfacing work. We can’t wait to reopen with courts that are better than ever! In the meantime, check out the courts at West Side Rec off Division Street.

🏓 Pickleball League Registration Opens Soon!
📅 City Residents: June 15 at 7:00 AM
📅 Non-City Residents: June 22 at 7:00 AM
Registration takes place through Community Pass.

🏕️ Camp Countdown Is On!
The Gaga Ball Pit is officially set up at the Rec Center field and ready for action! Stop by and get a taste of summer before camp officially begins.

🎭 Lights, camera, action! 🎭

Last night was opening night for our production of Beauty and the Beast, and our inaugural theater performance was a HUGE success! We are beyond proud of our incredible cast and cannot wait to see them shine one more time tonight. Break a leg, everyone! 💜

While this performance is only open to family and friends, we’re hoping to share this special experience on our Rec website soon — stay tuned for updates!

We also want to take a moment to thank our generous community partners who helped bring this production to life through donations of props, costumes, and set pieces:

• ADK Center Stage
• SLOC Theater
• Homemade Theater
• Saratoga Children’s Theater

This production would not have been possible without our amazing high school leadership team. This was a completely student-run program — one of the first of its kind for the Rec Center! While Program Coordinator Hannah Hertik helped with behind-the-scenes administration and occasional directing support, the students truly led the way. Please give them all the recognition they deserve!

Last Saturday, May 2nd, members of the Saratoga Springs Recreation Department had the honor of attending the PSB Derby Day for a Cause Gala at the beautiful Canfield Casino. It was an incredible evening celebrating an organization that continues to make a lasting impact throughout Saratoga and the Capital District. 💙

PSB Transitions of Saratoga is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children and families in crisis, with a core mission centered around keeping children connected to their community. The organization proudly honors the legacy of the late Patricia Sweeney Bergin, a beloved former school social worker in Saratoga who dedicated her life to removing barriers that prevented children and families from fully participating in their community. We are truly honored to play a small role in continuing that legacy.

Beginning last year, the Saratoga Rec Department partnered with PSB Transitions of Saratoga to help ensure children can participate in sports programming without barriers. Thanks to their generous support, we have been able to expand our “Try Sports for Free” program, provide sports equipment to local children, and create a free after-school Rec Sports Club that kids can attend each week.

We cannot thank PSB enough for all they do for our community and for their continued generosity toward the Rec Center. It’s because of organizations like PSB that we can help channel children’s imagination, energy, and potential into the safe, positive outlet of sports.

We are also incredibly excited to continue working alongside PSB over the next few years as we expand programs, create new opportunities, and continue breaking down barriers that prevent children from participating in their community.

Thank you, PSB, for all that you do! ⚾🏀⚽

Tomorrow (Sunday 3/29) is your FINAL day for public skate sessions at the Saratoga Ice Rinks before we take a seasonal break! Don’t miss your chance to hit the ice one more time before we close things out until July.

Here’s what’s on deck for the day:
🏒 Family Stick: 3:00–4:45 PM
⛸️ Open Public Skate: 3:00–5:15 PM
🏒 Open Stick: 5:30–7:00 PM

🎟️ Heads up! You’ll need a Drop-In Rec Card to participate—but good news, it’s FREE and easy to sign up online at saratogarec.com. You can also find session fees under the Ice Rink Public Skating Sessions section.

Grab your skates, bring the crew, and make it a fun send-off to the season! We’ll see you back on the ice in July 👀💙

🏓✨ Pickleball 101 = SUCCESS! ✨🏓

Our very first Pickleball 101 workshop was an absolute hit! From first serves to friendly rallies, participants jumped right in and had a blast learning the game.

A huge shoutout to our Program Coordinator and Pickleball Coordinator, Scott Stewart, for leading an awesome session—breaking down the basics, building confidence, and making it fun every step of the way. By the end of the hour, players walked away not just understanding the game, but ready to get out there and PLAY! 🙌
