⛳️💚 Honoring a Legacy of Mentorship and Friendship 💚⛳️

We are deeply grateful to Janice Cox, her son John, and Little Brother Tyler for hosting the Rick Cox Memorial Golf Tournament in honor of Rick's extraordinary life and legacy.

Rick was more than a Big Brother—he was a mentor, role model, and friend who made a lasting impact on Tyler's life. Even after Rick's passing, the bond they built remains strong. Tyler has become part of the Cox family, and that connection will continue for years to come—a true testament to the power of mentorship.

Through this special tournament, Janice, John, and Tyler chose to celebrate Rick's memory by giving back to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast, ensuring more young people have the opportunity to experience the life-changing relationships that meant so much to Rick.

We were honored to be invited by the Venice-Nokomis Rotary Club to attend their Grants Awards ceremony and to be recognized as one of this year’s recipients alongside an incredible group of community partners.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast was recognized alongside The Twig, Venice Theatre, The 180 House, Family Promise of South Sarasota County, Teen Court of Sarasota, Inc., Laurel Civic, Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties, Rotary Futures College Resource, VYBA Venice Youth Boating Association and Venice High School programs including Venice High School Baseball, Venice High School Golf Venice Beach Volleyball and Venice High School Music Boosters.

It was inspiring to stand with so many organizations working every day to create positive outcomes for young people across our community.

💚 Shoutout to Planet Fitness for helping teens stay active, healthy, and engaged this summer!

Through the 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬® program, teens ages 14–19 can work out for FREE at participating Planet Fitness locations through August 31. The program provides young people with access to fitness equipment, training resources, and a safe, welcoming environment during the summer months.

At Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast, we know that physical activity plays an important role in supporting both mental and physical well-being. Opportunities like this help young people build healthy habits, boost confidence, reduce stress, and stay active when school is out. 💪☀️

We are deeply grateful to the Service Club of Manatee County for their generous support and for recognizing the young people we serve across Manatee County. 💚

Yesterday, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast accepted a $2,870 grant award on behalf of our organization. We are honored to stand alongside so many outstanding nonprofit partners committed to expanding opportunity for youth.

This generous investment will directly support healthy meals at our new mentoring center at the Wakeland Service Center, ensuring young people have access to nutritious options including lean proteins, fresh vegetables, and balanced meals that help fuel overall well-being. 🥗✨
