Earlier this week, the Saranac Lake Police Department hosted an Axon Instructor training session, which was attended by Sgt Labar, Sgt Cromp, and Chief Perrotte. Agencies from across the Region and State, including those from as far away as Long Island, also participated. The training covered the use of different taser platforms and reality-based training using a virtual reality platform. Regular training is crucial for achieving optimal outcomes in crisis situations.

Today Officer Buckley, Sgt Cromp, and Officer St. Hilaire worked with Saranac Lake High School students on their mock crash to remind students of the dangers of impaired driving with prom this weekend.

Officer Buckley spent the entire week with students engaged in traffic safety activities. Our Officers are in the schools daily engaging with students to bridge the gap between law enforcement and youth.

Officer Buckley has spent the entire week with the Saranac Lake Driver's Ed Program working on Driver's Safety projects for their school traffic safety week. The week will culminate in the Mock Collision on Friday with our partners at Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squads. More photos to come as the week goes on. Welcome to two new Officers. Officer Garrett Hutchins and Officer Ethan Lavare. The Officers are currently attending the SUNY Potsdam Law Enforcement Training Institute beginning Phase 2, scheduled to graduate in June. They will then begin field training here at SLPD. One of the many benefits to Chief Perrotte being an instructor at the Academy is meeting some excellent quality Phase 1 recruits who have entered themselves into the Police Academy hoping to find an Agency where they want to work. We look forward to getting them out to meet the Community. Please welcome them!
