***UPDATE***

On May 19, 2026, at approximately 8:00 a.m., Sapulpa Police Officers were dispatched to the Garden Park Apartments, located at 207 N. Hickory, to investigate a possible stolen vehicle. The vehicle had been stolen from Bella Vista, AR several hours prior, along with a handgun. The Bella Vista Police Department notified the Sapulpa Police Department of the location of the vehicle and the possible suspect.

Upon arriving, two Sapulpa Police Officers located the vehicle and observed a white male, later identified as Brayden Lee Jessen, sitting in the driver’s seat. Officers began giving verbal commands to Jessen, telling him to exit the vehicle. Jessen exited the vehicle with a firearm in his hand and pointed it at the officers. Both officers discharged their weapons, striking Jessen. Jessen sustained non-life threatening injuries and was given first aid by both officers prior to EMS arriving.

Jessen was taken to a Tulsa hospital, where he is listed in stable condition, after surgery.

Once released from the hospital, Jessen will be booked into the Creek County Justice Center with the following charges: possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and assault with a deadly weapon.

Neither officers were injured and both have been placed on administrative leave, per departmental policy.

We want to thank the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation for their assistance in this investigation.

Sapulpa Police Department Press Release
05-19-2026

This morning at approximately 7:49 a.m. the Sapulpa Police Department was contacted by the Bella Vista Arkansas Police Department. That agency reported that a stolen vehicle was currently located in the parking lot of the Garden Parks Apartments located at 207 N Hickory in Sapulpa, and the vehicle was occupied by a male subject who was armed with a firearm.

Officers responded to the apartment complex where they located the stolen vehicle. Upon making contact with the occupant of the vehicle the man was ordered multiple times to show his hands and exit the vehicle. The man failed to show his hands as instructed. As the suspect exited the vehicle, officers observed a firearm in the subject’s waistband. As they continued to give commands, the man reached for the weapon. Officers fired multiple rounds at the subject in an effort to stop the perceived threat, wounding the subject.

Officers on scene provided first aid to the subject until medical personnel arrived. The suspect was transported to an area hospital where he is in stable condition.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation was requested to investigate the shooting. Both involved officers have been placed on administrative leave pending the results of a criminal and internal investigation.
