On March 31, Creek County Investigators received a CyberTipline report from the popular online platform Discord, a free social networking and communication app. Discord had flagged a local IP address for viewing, uploading, and taking screenshots of apparent child po*******hy, and relayed that information to our investigators. After executing a digital search warrant through Google, the files were determined to be child po*******hy; over 100 images were uploaded from the IP address from April 7 through April 15. Investigators pinpointed the physical location of the IP address and were able to identify the occupants of the residence. On April 29, investigators and deputies served a search warrant on the address and recovered four cell phones, an Xbox hard drive, and a laptop that all belonged to the suspect. David Brown, 32, of Mounds, was arrested without incident, and charged with two counts of child po*******hy, and one count each of computer crimes and unlawful use of communications. His bond has been set at $325,000.00. This is an arrest, not a conviction.

Hello, Creek County residents! It is time, once again, to inform you of yet another new scam. This one has also taken the form of a text message, seemingly from the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety, but looks a little different from the last one. This time, it simply says "Toll violation unpaid" and provides a payment date to prevent a 35% penalty, license suspension, and legal action, with a link to "resolve it now". Friends and neighbors, if you get this text message, for the love of Pete: Do not click the provided link, do not pay the “fines”, and do not provide any personal information to anyone via text message or phone call unless you are certain of their identity. If there is any doubt in your mind as to the validity of this message, don’t hesitate to call us at (918) 227-6374 so we can reassure you; we’d rather take a hundred calls about a scam than take one report of someone being scammed. As always, stay safe out there, and spread the word!

Good day, friends and neighbors! It has been brought to our attention that, yet another new scam is making the rounds. This one has taken the form of a text message, seemingly from the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety informing the receiver of unpaid traffic fines and threatening driver’s license, and vehicle registration suspension if not paid immediately. The text message references title 47 of the Oklahoma State Statue. That sounds serious! But it’s not. Title 47 is over 1,100 pages long and covers everything relating to motor vehicles in the state of Oklahoma, from pneumatic tires to a section about bomb squads. If you receive this message, rest assured that it is, in fact, a scam. Do not click the provided link, do not pay the “fines”, and do not provide any personal information to anyone via text message or phone call unless you are certain of their identity. If there is any doubt in your mind as to the validity of this message, don’t hesitate to call us at (918) 227-6374 so we can reassure you; we’d rather take a hundred calls about a scam than take one report of someone being scammed. The Creek County Sheriff's Office would like to ask for your assistance in identifying a ladder thief. The suspect was captured on a home security camera making off with a twelve-foot aluminum ladder. He made his getaway by jumping in the bed of a newer model silver truck with a red 4X4 emblem on the rear passenger side of the bed while the driver sped off northbound on 49th W Ave. If you recognize this person, truck, or ladder please call CCSO at 918 224-4964 and ask for the investigative division.
