25 years ago today, KOTV - News On 6 visited the campus of Sapulpa High School and talked to history teacher K. Shibley about helping students process the shocking and world-changing events of September 11, 2001.
As we reflect back on this milestone anniversary of a devastating day in American history, it is hard not to see the connections woven through our school community.
K. Shibley, who passed away 11 years ago, is the uncle of SHS principal Seth Shibley, and transportation director Steve Shibley, and the brother of hall-of-fame SHS wrestling coach and athletic director Stephen Shibley, Sr.
Reporter, Glenda Silvey, is a Sapulpa High School graduate. I (SPS Communications Director Heather Browne) was working at the assignment desk at Channel 6 that day as the tragic events unfolded, helping reporters cover how the news affected us here at home.
