Santo Volunteer Fire & EMS The Santo Volunteer Fire & EMS Department serves the residents of Santo and visitors to our area in southeastern Palo Pinto County

The Santo Volunteer Fire & EMS Department proudly serves a 114 square mile area in the southeastern portion of Palo Pinto County. We are located approximately 61 miles west of Fort Worth and approximately 192 miles north/northwest of Austin. The department operates out of one station and has ten emergency vehicles and two trailers - Utility 13, Engine 13, Medic 13, Medic 213, Brush 13, Brush 213,

Brush 313, Rescue 13, Tender 13 and TAC 13. Santo VFD’s membership is made up entirely of volunteers who respond 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to alarms, fires, motor vehicle accidents, public assistance calls, etc. These men and women possess certifications ranging from Emergency Care Attendant (ECA) (First Responder) to Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Paramedic and freely offer their skills, time, and talents to provide protection and peace of mind to the residents of Santo. In September 2021, EMS transitioned to 24/7 coverage for the area inside of Palo Pinto County ESD #2. As is emblazoned on our equipment and apparel, we do it “So That Others May Live”.

Please Please Please follow these instructions. You put lives at risk when you don't and even greater risk when you stay at full speed and just move over onto the shoulder if at all. We have been seeing a lot of people not moving over and stopping later. Remember we aren't using our lights to get a pizza.. Someone needs help!

With hotter temperatures arriving Your Firefighters and EMS staff are in need of bottled water. We place bottled water in all our apparatus, so the firefighters have easy access to it to remain hydrated. We also hand out water to victims of vehicle accidents, fires, etc. as we are on scene with them. We are currently accepting and greatly need donations of cases of water. Cases of water are needed much more over any other types of drinks including sports drinks, powdered additives and such. Please feel free to drop of any donation at Station 13 anytime. Thank You for supporting your local hero's.

Fun Fact did you know that the call volume for Station 13 is the highest in the county? Those volumes continue to rise, and your firefighters and EMS staff are responding regularly to an increase of 20% or more.

When there’s ice on the road, staying put is the safest call. Stay home, stay warm, and stay safe. Texas will still be there when the ice melts. Drive like a Texan: kind, courteous, and safe.

01/23/2026

With the rain and the temperature beginning to drop, road conditions will begin to deteriorate.

If you do not need to he on the roads, please stay home.

If you must get out use extreme caution. Plan for a minimum of an extra hour to travel.

Make sure you have proper outerwear and layers of clothing. Pack blankets, water and snacks in case there is traffic or you have issues.

Santo Volunteer Fire & EMS has extra crews standing by during this time. Keep them and all first responders in the area in your prayers and thoughts for their safety during this weather event.
