Ever wondered who the artist is behind so many of the beautifully painted utility boxes around our city? 🎨🖌️ Meet Thom Guerra, local muralist from Santee! Thom has brought new life to over 13 boxes throughout the city and many other outdoor spaces across San Diego County.

You can see his work on popular street corners, hidden in city parks, and various other locations throughout Santee (see map at the end of the video). We had the opportunity to interview Thom as he completed the America250-themed mural on the utility box in front of the Post Office on Mission Gorge Rd. 🇺🇸 📬

In February 2026, the City of Santee was awarded a Capacity Building Grant from San Diego Art Matters to support the integration of public art into the new Santee Community Center.

We're now seeking input from residents and visitors on potential art installations for this exciting community space. Review the project renderings and details, then take our online survey to share your thoughts and help guide the future of public art in Santee.

⚠️ Mission Gorge Lane Closure ⚠️
The East County Advanced Water Project will be installing a 24 hour lane closure for the outside westbound #2 lane on Mission Gorge Rd from Mesa Rd to Father Junipero Sera.
The installation of the lane closure should be fully in place by the end of next week & is expected to last through the end of August. Thank you for your patience.

In this role, you'll review plans, assist customers at the public counter, perform residential and commercial inspections, interpret building codes, and help ensure construction projects meet state and local requirements. You'll work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, homeowners, and fellow development professionals to support projects from permit application through final inspection.

Key responsibilities include:
✔ Performing field inspections for residential, commercial, and industrial projects
✔ Reviewing plans for minor construction projects and tenant improvements
✔ Assisting customers with permits and code requirements
