Learn CPR--You could be the difference for your parent, spouse, child or friend.
Did you know that about 70 percent of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen in homes? If you are called on to give CPR in an emergency, you will most likely be trying to save the life of someone you love.

The benefits of performing CPR can double or triple the chance of survival. Don’t wait for someone else to step up. Learn and do CPR. You might even save someone close to you.

In 2026, Santaquin Fire will be hosting several AHA *Heartsaver CPR/First Aid classes. The next one will be held on Saturday, April 18th.

Whether you need a course to satisfy OSHA work requirements for CPR and First-Aid or you want to be more prepared to act in an emergency, this course is for you.

The course includes:

*First Aid Basics: Medical, injury, and environmental emergencies.
*CPR and AED: High-quality CPR and AED use for adults, children, and infants.
*Safety Topics: Opioid-associated life-threatening emergencies, preventing illness/injury, and mental health crisis recognition in the workplace.
*Specific Skills: Choking relief, using an epinephrine pen, and controlling bleeding/bandaging.

The course is about 4.5 hours. Plan on 8 am til 1pm
Prepaid course fee is $55 and includes instruction, a 2-year AHA certification card, and a personal barrier keyring.

**Payment MUST be made at Santaquin City offices for this class by Wednesday April 15th. (Your receipt is proof of payment, save it) Sign up by email**

Class size is limited.

For Questions or to sign up for this class, email [email protected]

*BLS classes will also be offered for healthcare workers on future dates throughout the year.

Just after 5 pm, Santaquin fire crews were dispatched to the report of a brush fire west of Summit Ridge near the bike trails. Brush 141, Brush 142, and Brush 143 arrived to find a smoldering camp fire that had spread to surrounding grass, brush and trees. The fire burned approximately 1/3 of an acre. Crews quickly extinguished the flames and removed the dry fuels in the area.

With our virtually non-existent winter, this fire season promises to be a bad one. Please please please, let’s not add to that through human negligence. This fire was within walking distance of homes in Summit Ridge.
Campfires belong only on improved fire rings and make sure they are doused and COLD before leaving. It doesn’t take much wind to kick up an ember or relight a smoldering log.

We often conduct tours of the fire station for preschoolers and elementary students but this was a first for us. Last week we hosted a delightful class of four-legged fur babies and their trainers. The FFA class from PHS brought 9 dogs with handlers to tour the fire station as part of their training to become Service Dogs.

Guide dogs of America supplied the dogs in June of 2025 when the puppies were just 11 weeks old. They will be here until graduation. After that, they’ll go back to California to complete their training.

These highly trained dogs will go on to specialize in services for veterans suffering from PTSD, people with Autism and of course some will become the eyes for those dealing with blindness.

All these service dogs will be donated to their recipients.

Payson High school has partnered with IFA for food and treats.
Dogs are with their handlers 24 hours per day and need to experience a wide variety of life circumstances to be able to adapt and still do their jobs. We can tell you that they are curious but mostly unphased by sirens.

What a wonderful program facilitated by Mr. Rindlisbacher that is available to the students at PHS. We are grateful we were able to participate in a small way with this wonderful cause.

If you know any Nebo board members please thank them for letting this kind of amazing opportunity continue for our students.

And check out this link for even more info about the program. https://youtu.be/XbcjiAtszvY?si=WQeOm-K8G78N6BsU

"Mourn with those who mourn." That's what we do when our brothers lose one of their own. These calls are the ones that we replay and relive and wonder what else could have been done, even when we know that despite all we could do, it wasn't enough. Rest easy brother.

The weather doesn’t care if people need help so we train in bad weather too.

Last night, Santaquin Fire & EMS members trained on the deployment and operations of 24-foot ground ladders. We reviewed the who, what, when, and why of ladder placement during fire operations; focusing on proper positioning, victim access, firefighter egress, and overall scene safety.

Strong fundamentals. Professional service. Always training to better serve the Santaquin community.

If you’re in town between 7 and 8 tonight (1/8/26) you will hear sirens.
Don’t be alarmed, it’s just us sending our “Hey Miss Marcee, WE MISS YOU!” up to heaven for her birthday celebration. 🥳

Tomorrow we send her off in a more solemn manner…But tonight, for a little bit, there will be happy/sad tears and joyful noises.

❤️HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARCEE ❤️
