Cloverdale Drug Bust

On May 27, 2026, at approximately 5:32 p.m., detectives from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit, along with patrol deputies, served a search warrant in the 100 block of Vine Drive in Cloverdale as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.

The target of the investigation was 54-year-old Joyce Snellgrove. During the search of her residence, detectives recovered more than two pounds of suspected methamphetamine, along with packaging materials and digital scales, items commonly associated with the sale of narcotics.

Snellgrove was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance for sale and booked into the Main Adult Detention Facility. She was later released after posting $10,000 bail.

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to removing illegal narcotics from our communities and holding those responsible accountable.

Deputy injured after arrest of suspect in rural Rohnert Park.

On 05/27/2026, at about 7:00 p.m., deputies responded to the 4800 block of Petaluma Hill Road for the report of a subject walking northbound, checking gates and residential doors.

A deputy arrived in the area and contacted Felix Barradas Moreno, 32, of Santa Rosa. Moreno was the only subject walking in the area and matched the description given by the original caller to the Sheriff’s Office Dispatch.

After being contacted, it was learned that Moreno was on Sonoma County Probation for 69 PC (Resisting an Executive Officer). During the contact with the deputy, Moreno was uncooperative, continually tried to conceal his hands, and ran from the deputy.

The deputy chased Moreno for a short distance and forced him to the ground. Moreno continually fought the deputy, who was by himself. After a sustained altercation, a second deputy arrived on scene and assisted with taking Moreno into custody.

Medical personnel were summoned to the scene, and Moreno was transported to a local hospital for medical clearance. Moreno received minor injuries from the altercation, and after being medically cleared, was booked into the Main Adult Detention Facility. During the booking process, Moreno was found to be in possession of suspected Methamphetamine. Moreno was booked for 69 PC, 1203.2 PC (Violation of Probation), and 11377(a) HS (Possession of Controlled Substance), where he remains in custody without bail.

The original deputy involved in this incident sustained a fracture to his left elbow.

We urge the public to contact the Sheriff's Office if they see people in their neighborhood looking into car windows, trying to open locked doors, or acting suspiciously.

Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Closes 1983 Cold Case Homicide of Robert Pangborn

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office has officially closed the 1983 homicide investigation into the murder and sexual assault of Robert Pangborn. He was 31 at the time of his death.

On May 21, 1983, deputies began a homicide investigation after Pangborn was found murdered on Riverlands Drive in Guerneville. He was discovered partially clothed and had suffered a fatal stab wound.

During the original investigation, detectives collected and preserved physical evidence. Investigators conducted an extensive investigation, but despite their efforts, no suspect was identified at the time. DNA technology was not yet available to law enforcement.

Cold cases at the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office are continually reviewed as advances in forensic science create new investigative opportunities. Between 2010 and 2023, evidence from this case was submitted to the Santa Clara County Crime Laboratory and later the Serological Research Institute for advanced DNA testing. As new methods became available, additional testing was conducted in an effort to identify a suspect.

In 2024, through a DNA match, detectives identified Oscar Bolanos, 67, as a suspect in the sexual assault and killing of Robert Pangborn.

In 1992, Bolanos was arrested in Los Angeles County for the so**my and sexual assault of a juvenile and was sentenced to state prison. As part of that case, his DNA was collected and entered into law enforcement databases. Detectives later learned that following his release from prison, Bolanos was deported to El Salvador in 1994.

Violent Crimes detectives then began working with the U.S. Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to determine Bolanos’s whereabouts. Investigators found no record that he had ever returned to the United States after his deportation. Bolanos had originally entered the country on a work visa in the early 1980s. Authorities in El Salvador ultimately located him living near the same village he had listed on his original visa application.

Violent Crimes detectives presented the case to the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office, and an arrest warrant for murder was issued to Bolanos. Sonoma County Detectives then began working with federal authorities and the Salvadoran government to have Bolanos arrested and extradited back to the United States to stand trial.

As federal authorities were preparing to take Bolanos into custody, he was found deceased inside his home in El Salvador. Investigators learned he had reportedly been battling cancer and appeared to have died of natural causes.

Although Bolanos will not face prosecution in court, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office has concluded that the evidence establishes he sexually assaulted and murdered Robert Pangborn.

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to investigating cold case homicides. Each year, the Sheriff’s Office allocates $50,000 for DNA testing related to unsolved homicide investigations and has created a detective position that exclusively investigates cold case homicides. The agency currently has approximately 70 open cold case investigations dating back as far as 1967. Cases are constantly re-evaluated and all new leads investigated. We are continually attempting to seek justice for the victims and their families.

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office, the Santa Clara County Crime Laboratory, the Serological Research Institute, the U.S. Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and all partner agencies whose professionalism and persistence were instrumental in resolving this case.

Vallejo Man Dies by Su***de Following Pursuit in Bodega Bay

On Saturday May 23, 2026, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Solano County Sheriff’s Office regarding a possibly armed and suicidal subject identified as 57-year-old Cory Nott of Vallejo. Nott was believed to be entering Sonoma County after being contacted during an initial investigation involving Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).

Deputies were given a description of the motorcycle Nott was riding and asked to be on the lookout for him.

On Sunday, May 24, 2026, at approximately 10:31 a.m., a deputy located Nott and the motorcycle in the 1000 block of Highway 1 in Bodega Bay. The deputy attempted to contact Nott to check on his well-being, but Nott immediately fled on the motorcycle, riding erratically.

The deputy pursued Nott southbound on Highway 1 for about one mile, until he turned into the parking lot of the Bird Walk Coastal Access at 355 Highway 1. Nott abandoned the motorcycle and ran behind a tree, where witnesses and the deputy reported he produced a firearm and shot himself. The deputy immediately requested medical assistance. Nott was pronounced deceased at the scene at 10:39 a.m.

Deputies secured the area until detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit and the Crime Scene Investigations Unit arrived. A coroner’s investigator responded and transported Nott’s body to the coroner’s office. The coroner’s office notified his next of kin, and he was positively identified as Nott.

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office extends its condolences to Nott’s family and friends during this difficult time.
