The Pony Express

The Pony Express We provide a safe space for kids to get outside in nature and in hand with horses that nurture our soul.

The Pony Express provides pony rides and riding lessons at Howarth Park, located in Santa Rosa. The Pony Express Equine Assisted Skills for Youth also offers an equine/educational learning environment for youth ages 12-18 years of age. The EASY Program is a lifeskill/leadership program that utilizes horses as both guide and teacher. Interns engage in equine/educational exercises designed to instill trust, respect, communication and teamwork.

Do you have a deep respect for horses and a passion for mentoring youth? We are looking for an experienced Program Instructor & Equine Specialist to join The Pony Express team.

This unique role requires a blend of excellent horsemanship and a mentor’s heart. We need someone who is:

🐴 Highly Experienced with horses of all types (we are a rescue).

🐴 Passionate about working with kids and youth.

🐴 Dependable & Punctual (we can’t do this without you)!

🐴 A Confident Team Player who collaborates well with others.

🐴 Hardworking in all aspects of barn and arena life.

You’ll work in a supportive, mission-driven environment where your skills change lives.

# # all Parents of Teens! Is your teen looking for a place where they can learn how to be the best version of themselves, both on and off the back of a horse?

Sometimes, the best life lessons don’t happen in the classroom-they happen outside in nature and in hand with horses. Our Equine Assisted Skills for Youth Program invites youth ages 12-18 to partner with horses to build the skills that matter most.
What your teen will gain:

Committment: Learning how to make a committment, and keep one.

Confidence: Learning how to be in partnership with a 1000 pound prey animal.

Communication: Learning how to effectively communicate with horses and humans.

Connection: Stepping away from screen time and into horse time.

Resilience: Solving real-world challenges in a judgment-free environment.

Helping teens (12-18) trade screen time for horse time. Our curriculum focuses on:

Connection
Communication
Confidence
Self-Regulation

No experience is necessary-just a willingness to grow. Limited spots available to ensure a high quality experience for every participant.
