Great work by the Station 5 “C” Shift crew!
LIFESAVING AWARD! 🏆 We are incredibly proud to recognize an additional group of firefighters this week for their lifesaving efforts during a medical call, which led to a positive outcome for a woman in cardiac arrest.
On the evening of February 17, 2026 in Miramar Beach, South Walton Fire District's Station 5 firefighters responded to the call involving an approximately 75-year-old woman. When they arrived on-scene, they found Walton County deputies rendering care and chest compressions.
Engine 5, Rescue 5, and Battalion Chief 2 then administered Advanced Life Support care including defibrillation, intubation, and medications, which resulted in on-scene “ROSC,” or a return of spontaneous circulation.
They transported the patient to Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast, whose team relayed that days later, the patient was discharged with little to no deficits despite her critical medical experience.
We congratulate the responsible crew members on their lifesaving care and exceptional management of the scene, as well as thank the Walton County Sheriff's Office, Florida deputies who initiated care before our arrival.
We also extend our best wishes to the impacted individual and their loved ones, hoping for their continued health and recovery.
🔥Recognized Firefighters: Firefighter/EMT Spencer Phillips, Sergeant/Paramedic Ryan Fredricks, Firefighter/Paramedic TJ Santner, Firefighter/Paramedic Conner Fears. Not pictured but also recipients of this lifesaving award: Firefighter/Paramedic Chase Patrick, Battalion Chief Jason Durko
