Sojourn, The People Concern's domestic violence program, has been meeting the emergency and long-term needs of thousands of victims of domestic violence for over forty years. We need your help to continue providing our life-saving services. A donation as small as $5 will do big things!
On average, 24 people per minute are victims of r**e, physical violence or stalking by an intimate partner in the United States — more than 12 million women and men over the course of a year.
At least 1 in 7 children have experienced child abuse and/or neglect in the past year, and this is likely an underestimate. In 2018, nearly 1,770 children died of abuse and neglect in the United States.
In the United States, 43.6% of women (nearly 52.2 million) experienced some form of contact sexual violence in their lifetime.
Society’s long history of entrenched racism, sexism, homophobia and transphobia prevents LGBT victims of domestic violence from seeking help from the police, legal and court systems for fear of discrimination or bias.
The pandemic has created an environment where victims of domestic violence are often trapped at home with their abusers.
Last year, Sojourn's hotline received 1,952 calls. We served 1,524 new clients and provided 310 support groups.
