The book Paletero Man and ice pops go together like peanut butter and jelly in this weather, so Miller first- and second-graders had an extra-special treat this week.

First grade is studying being a good community member and the story of Paletero Man was a perfect fit as it's about community and friendship. Meanwhile, second grade got creative and imagined their favorite paleta.

All of the Miller students loved the story, activities, and popsicles in this heat. 🍧

Vanessa Preciado our District level Student Leader is off to her first leadership forum today, but first she helped to do school wide morning announcements. She represents our school with pride and spirit.. we are so proud of her!

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) makes a powerful impact on our SMBSD campuses, including at El Camino Junior High, by empowering students with academic agency, college and career readiness routines, and high expectations.

Bringing families into this journey early on helps ensure our students thrive in and out of the classroom.

Our amazing AVID teachers, Ashley Sandoval, Laura Davila, and Crystal Gavarre, hosted a Welcome Back to School event at El Camino this week for our AVID families. Parents and guardians joined us on campus for snacks, conversation, and an overview of upcoming events and opportunities for the school year.

The event gave us a wonderful space to build relational capacity and strengthen partnerships with our families right from the start.
