The cost of building 119 miles of high-speed rail in the Central Valley just jumped to $10.6 billion — an increase of $2.8 billion from the current budget.

Agreed. This is a terribly over hyped, over promised, and under whelming project California has engaged in in a long time. Billions over budget, years behind schedule, all for something no one wants or needs.

The high-speed rail debacle must be an issue in the 2018 governor's race.
