It was my honor to help this wonderful couple get married & pave the way for same s*x marriage for New Mexicans. All Americans deserve the freedom to marry who they love. I am grateful to the US Senate for stepping up to help codify this fundamental right.

Many people still fear the Supreme Court could overturn the 2015 ruling on same-s*x marriage.

I have long been a proud supporter of New Mexico School for the Arts and have celebrated many milestones with its incredibly talented students and faculty. Last Monday, I joined as NMSA celebrated one of the most exciting milestones yet — breaking ground on new dormitories that will make this wonderful institution even more accessible to students throughout our entire state.

Kelly and I are deeply saddened to learn that our friend Herb Denish has passed away.

Herb was a loving, stalwart partner to Diane throughout the ups and downs of political life and supported her to flourish in her distinguished public service career. He was also a tireless champion for the people of Albuquerque.

There is no doubt that Herb’s legacy will live on through the countless New Mexicans whose lives he brightened with his friendship, his kindness, and his community advocacy.

Our thoughts are with Diane and her family in this difficult time.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend and colleague Steve Arias. Steve served the Legislature and the people of New Mexico honorably for nearly 40 years. From his earliest days as a page to his long tenure as Chief Clerk of the House, he distinguished himself through his commitment to public service and through the care and respect with which he treated his colleagues, lawmakers, and constituents.

I was proud to call Steve a friend and fortunate to benefit from the depth of his knowledge and wisdom. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife Victoria, his children, and grandchildren.

Today's Supreme Court decision is the result of a decades long assault by Republicans on women’s rights and healthcare. It will have a devastating impact on families across the nation. Our state remains a safe haven for those seeking abortion care, but our rights are on the line this fall.

A vote for a Republican in November is a vote to roll back access to critical healthcare services and fundamental freedoms for all of us. We must fight back and elect strong Democratic leaders up and down the ballot who will defend abortion rights.

It should not be newsworthy that a county votes to certify an election, but I am grateful to Symone D. Sanders for paying attention to the threats to our democracy here in New Mexico.

There was no impropriety and there were no mismatched numbers in the election. Thank you to our incredible Secretary of State, Maggie Toulouse Oliver for standing up for Otero county voters, fighting back against these harmful lies, and making sure the commission ultimately fulfilled their duty to voters.

Thank you to President Joe Biden for joining us in New Mexico to see the devastation caused by the recent wildfires. The road to recovery is long, but New Mexicans are resilient and I appreciate President Biden and Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham for working to ensure everyone gets the resources they need to rebuild.
