On July 18, the Governor and Legislators have a chance to pass the Competency Bill. The Competency Bill allows judges to hold defendants for 7 days if their mental competency is questioned and requires DAs to consider involuntary commitment for serious crimes, gun felonies,or repeated incompetence.

This can’t wait because...it will help protect the public and provide mental health care for those inneed.
