This week, DoIT's Public Safety Radio team installed a mobile Cell on Wheels at Nambé Lake to reinforce radio and data connectivity for firefighters and tribal personnel responding to the Frijoles Fire.

The team worked more than four hours in midday heat to get the unit up and running after Nambé Pueblo requested backup support. It's a reminder that behind every emergency response is a communications network someone has to build and maintain in real time.

"Reliable communication saves lives during emergencies, and our department remains ready to reinforce that infrastructure at a moment's notice," said Manny Barreras , DoIT cabinet secretary and state CIO.

Cabinet Secretary and State CIO Manny Barreras had a great visit to the New Mexico Tech campus, where he connected with campus leadership and discussed ways we can work together moving forward. Thank you to President Michael Jackson and CIO Darryl Ackley for the meaningful conversation and hospitality. Excited for what’s ahead.

Last week, DoIT welcomed the Motorola Solutions engineering team to our headquarters as we continue modernizing New Mexico’s public safety radio network. These upgrades strengthen our mission critical communications system with improved performance, enhanced cybersecurity and new capabilities built for today’s first responders.

This work is all about delivering reliable, resilient communications for the communities we serve — ensuring those who protect New Mexico every day have the tools they need to stay connected.

Huge thanks to our Motorola Solutions partners for their expertise and commitment to this important modernization effort.

National Night Out was a blast! DoIT leadership highlighted our New Mexico Wireless Interoperability Network System (NMWINS) public safety radio team and the work they do connecting first responders across the state. Kids left with coloring pages, and three lucky families walked away with STEM radio sets.

Thanks to the NM Department of Public Safety and the Santa Fe Police Department for hosting another great event.

Come say hi Tuesday at National Night Out in Santa Fe!

We're proud to join the NM Department of Public Safety and the New Mexico State Police for this year's event.

The New Mexico Department of Information Technology’s booth will spotlight our NMWINS public safety radio team — the folks keeping first responders connected statewide. Swing by for kid‑friendly activities, a radio show‑and‑tell featuring decommissioned radios, and a chance to win one of three STEM radio kits.

Plus, learn how our network keeps first responders talking to each other when it matters most.

One network. One mission. Statewide.

See you there!

Happy World Wide Web Day from your friends at DoIT!

We figured there's no better day to show off our new website. It's faster, easier to navigate and honestly just better looking (we're allowed to say that).
