Happy Veteran’s Day to all those who have served and are currently serving. Your willingness to serve a greater cause is foundational to the greatness of this Nation. I hope your day was like mine, spent remembering and being grateful to the many incredible men and women with whom I have had the honor to serve.

On Veteran's Day, we thank the men and women who have bravely served and sacrificed for our state and nation.

Private Joseph O. “Jose” Quintero struggled to create this flag in secret while held as a prisoner of war during World War II.

At the end of the war, Quintero risked his life to save his fellow prisoners. He waved his secret flag to signal to oncoming U.S. bombers that the camp was there.

Quintero presented his flag to Lt. Gen. Edward D. Baca, chief of the National Guard Bureau and adjutant general of the New Mexico National Guard, who toured with the flag to tell the stories of the Soldiers, like Quintero, who were surrendered on Bataan and Corregidor.

Quintero's flag is now in the care of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.

Proud to see our community of volunteers to include National Guard Soldiers and Airmen circling around New Mexico Veterans in need today.

The Rock at Noonday is hosting the 15th annual VA Stand Down event which provides warm clothing, food, employment help, housing assistance, healthcare and legal assistance for homeless and low income veterans.

Great to see New Mexico continuing to get after taking care of these heroes after everything they’ve done to serve this Nation.

Thank you to The Department of Veterans Affairs and Services, and Veterans Integration Center for helping make this event possible.

Siempre Adelante!

Had a great conversation with the future force today. Our team hosted the NMMI cadets here in Santa Fe. Coming from a small town myself I was proud to share the story of how the NMNG has helped shape my career and family.

Was honored to represent the New Mexico National Guard at the 2022 Forgotten Hero’s Memorial at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. As I read the 29 heroes names I was struck with a deep sense of gratitude for the individual sacrifice each made for our Nation.

Today, on the 21st anniversary of September 11th, we pause to remember and honor the fallen.

Proud to serve and represent the Soldiers and Airmen from New Mexico who continue to don this Nation’s uniform and defend the ideals that were attacked that day.

People near New Mexico’s burn scar areas are at risk of flash-flooding. Monitor your weather radio and the daily weather forecast for rain, especially if you are near or downhill from burn scars.

Dangerous conditions can form within minutes and may turn into mudslides with fast-moving debris.

Six inches of water can knock you down and 12 inches of water can sweep away a vehicle downstream.

Call 833-663-6248 if you know you will need assistance should an evacuation occur. For emergency assistance, dial 9-1-1.

If you can not evacuate, get to higher ground as soon as you can.
