Hobbs, NM – A Celebration of Seniors and Community!
Once again, Hobbs was the place to be for one of the biggest senior gatherings in the city!

The Hobbs Senior Center, located inside the Agnes Kastner Head Community Center, came alive this October for the annual Senior Health Fair. The center was beautifully decorated in festive fall colors, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone who attended.

Seniors were greeted by friendly staff, dedicated volunteers, and a host of enthusiastic vendors. A special lunch menu was prepared, featuring a stunning three-table spread of fresh fruit and delicious desserts. Door prizes added even more excitement to an already joyful day.

We were especially proud to have our very own Provider, Angela Courter, in attendance. Angela previously served as the Provider for this location and was thrilled to reconnect with former consumers. Also joining us was Paul Zielinski, Advisory Council member for Lea County.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a success. Your efforts made the day truly memorable for all who attended!

This event is one of the largest events for this newly opened center and offers Seniors a chance to mingle with businesses’ who take the time to come on out and introduce themselves, answer questions and provide much needed helpful information in a fun filled environment. Barbara Riggins, her staff and volunteers, did a wonderful job making sure everyone had a great time by providing lunch and NMNMAAA provided the cupcakes. NMNMAAA advisory Council member Rev. Elizabeth Popescu representing Curry County was in attendance and was impressed by the presentation and the number of Seniors in attendance.

Catron County, NM
The Reserve Senior Health Fair, hosted by the PMS County Senior Program, the Catron Health Council, and provider Louise Strain, was a great success. Organizers went above and beyond to ensure the event was engaging and informative. Vendors from across the region participated, each showcasing their services, distributing informational flyers, and offering branded giveaways.

Community members expressed their appreciation for the event, which featured Nutritionist Constance Rudnicki from NMNMAAA preparing healthy dishes for attendees to sample. We also handed out our signature goodie bags to share information about the services we offer to support seniors aged 60 and older in living independently within their own communities.

Columbus, NM
February 2025
The Village of Columbus New Senior/OlderAdults Congragate Meal site is NOW OPEN.
During 2017 Mr. Allen Rosenberg, a long-time member of the Deming Luna Commission on Aging Board of Directors, presented the idea of opening a Senior Center in the Village of Columbus. Since 2017 the Deming Luna County Commission on Aging and its Executive Director, Juie Bolton, collaborated with Mayor Phillip Skinner, Village Trustee Jerad Loesch and Village Trustee Bill Johnson to hold public hearings and needs surveys in the community. Finally, after overcoming several bumps along the road, during 2024 funding was secured via the New Mexico Aging & Long-Term Services Department’s Senior Services Expansion Grant, which is administered by the Non-Metro Area Agency on Aging. In addition, the Village of Columbus local government is also providing funding and the Meal Site at the Columbus Community Health Center located at 31 E Boundary Rd, Columbus, NM. New Executive Director, Reginald Price, ThD took over this project in January 2025 and was able to make the opening of the Columbus Senior Meal Site a reality on February 24, 2025 with Lily Ray as the Site Manager.
