A Path to Recovery and Healthy Living We have an HIV Center in Hollywood located on Sunset and our downtown office located Skid Row.

Los Angeles Centers for Alcohol and Drug Abuse is a 501 c3 nonprofit organization that provides services to people with substance abuse problems. We have five offices in Los Angeles County with our main office in Santa Fe Springs along with our residential treatment centers: New Visions and the Allen House.

Today, August 31, we recognize International Overdose Awareness Day, a day to remember the lives lost to overdose, stand alongside those who have been affected, and acknowledge the continued need for action in our communities.

For 25 years, this observance has created space for communities around the world to remember, raise awareness, reduce stigma, and advocate for change. While we have made progress, the work is far from over.

Overdose awareness is not just about understanding the crisis, it’s about recognizing the people, families, and communities behind it and continuing to build a future where prevention, recovery, harm reduction, and compassionate care are accessible to all.

The conversation continues.

A New Chapter Starts With One Decision

When Taylor connected with L.A. CADA’s Outreach Team, they were looking for a safe place to begin making meaningful changes. After listening to Taylor’s needs and goals, our team worked quickly to connect them with the appropriate treatment services and provide a warm handoff into residential care.

Just weeks later, Taylor’s progress has been remarkable. During a recent check-in, our team found Taylor engaging with staff and peers, participating in activities, and looking forward to completing the program and taking the next step in their recovery journey.

Taylor shared that they “haven’t felt this good in a long time” and is looking forward to continuing with L.A. CADA’s services as they work toward greater stability and permanent housing.

Stories like Taylor’s highlight the importance of meeting people where they are, listening to what they need, and connecting them with compassionate, coordinated care. From outreach and treatment to recovery support and housing, L.A. CADA remains committed to walking alongside individuals through every step of their journey.
