I typically get asked when speaking to residents, "why are you running for office". To this I respond, "why not, politics is not reserved for the elite, and this is the problem we currently have in Sacramento. Our elected officials will say that me, or anyone who is not a part of the inner circle of California Politics, does not know what is in our own family's best interest, and that is ridiculous.” We can actually start accomplishing things if we install members of the Assembly House who don't take donations from corporations, listen to lobbyists, and favor big businesses. I am running for District 57, currently being ran by Corporate Calderon. He takes large donations from pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies, and the like. He votes, or doesn't vote (which is a vote) to make these entities more powerful, and leave the middle class to take the punch. We can never accomplish anything legitimate when our elected officials are bought. I proudly call my bid for election the "brokest campaign in California", because simply put; a broke politician, is an honest politician.
In politics there are warriors (unpaid), and there are mercenaries (paid). I don’t have mercenaries, my opponent does, simply put: I cannot pay anyone to canvass for me like he can. I recruit warriors instead; people who believe we can make actual change through faith in a cause that matters. These are the people I work with on this campaign, the best of the best. We can be warriors for actual change; here is what I plan to accomplish during my first term:
1) Removing money from politics to allow for elections to be for the people, by the people. I know that this is the leading factor in the corruption of our politics today, and is
the biggest problem facing our Democracy.
2) Percentage based fines and infractions. I believe that as it a stands, having a fixed amount for fines or infractions impacts an overwhelming majority of Californians, but is of
little to no punishment or significance for those with higher financial means. I want to level the playing field, so that the single mother working two jobs to support her kids does not pay the same fine as a millionaire hedge fund owner.
3) Reforming the bond system for incarceration. Reforming the current system so it is not based on an assigned amount to be released, but rather based on an individual’s finances, ties in the community, and additional vetting. This is fiscally conservative and reduces the recidivism rate (70% in America). It also protects those wrongfully convicted, and allows them to return to society while going through the judicial process.
4) Medi-Cal for all/Single payer (SB 562). Currently, there is a bill that is being withheld in the assembly house by my opponent Ian Calderon, or as I call him Corporate Calderon. He and Anthony Rendon (district 63) refuse to introduce the bill for a vote, as they both have taken hundreds of thousands of dollars in both pharmaceutical and private insurance company money. These representatives will never deliver what Californians want, they've been bought. SB 562 is a bill that will guarantee healthcare, dental, and vision to all residents of California. Healthcare is a right, and is fiscally conservative for all taxpayers without sacrificing costs.
5) Reducing Traffic. Need I say more.
These are all things we can accomplish together when we vote for someone who doesn't hide from the people. Greatness is being accepted by the people. How can I ever serve the people of my State when I don't know them personally. I will knock your door, at some point during this election, and if I don't it's because there are only 24 hours in one day. I don't hide from the people, I'm here to have a conversation about what we need to fix.
Vote for me June 5th, so you can have your voice restored.
