Up close and personal with a mosquito! πŸ”¬πŸ¦Ÿ

Ever wondered what our vector ecologists see under the microscope? This is how we identify mosquito species down to the finest details!

What we're examining:
πŸ” Wing scales and patterns
πŸ” Body segments and coloring
πŸ” Leg structure and markings
πŸ” Antennae features

These tiny details help us determine which species we're dealing with, and that tells us what diseases they might carry and how to control them most effectively.

Species identification is the foundation of targeted vector control! Every stripe, scale, and segment matters.

Meet the BioGent (BG) Trap! πŸ”¬πŸ¦Ÿ
This collapsible surveillance trap is specifically designed for monitoring Aedes mosquitoes, the aggressive day-biters that can transmit Dengue, Zika, and Chikungunya.

How it works:
🎯 Simulates human airflow to attract mosquitoes
🎯 Uses visual attraction (color contrast)
🎯 Pairs BG-Lure with COβ‚‚ for maximum effectiveness
🎯 Captures both male and female mosquitoes

Why it matters:
Our Vector Ecologists use these traps for quick species identification and population tracking. By capturing both sexes, we get accurate data on breeding activity and can respond faster to emerging threats.

Science-based surveillance = effective control! πŸ’‘
